Re: My New Macan S

There's no comparison between the TT and a 718. Get Matt to give you a loaner for the weekend and you'll be smitten. I have the S which has 350bhp and instant full torque at any engine speed above 1950rpm, which is always. Great cars. Where in NI are you?

I guess that the base cost could also go up also because of WTO tariffs on all the Porsche car-parts imported from UK to Germany! A double whammy!
Yup. Welcome to non-agreement Brexit. Watch food prices rocket if no deal is reached.

Hi jollo88
I suggest that you edit your post and change to 2019 for clarity.....
"I will keep it and drive it until September/October 2018...."
Or September/October 2019 even...

Re: Macan Order - customs duty

Unless they operate on a cost plus basis, then it's all percentages. If they are to remain the same, the final cost will be 10% up as the base cost landed at the dealership will be 10% higher.

Re: Macan Order - customs duty

The reactions on here to a prospective price hike is why I don't understand the EU's attitude towards Brexit. German car manufacturers are going to loose loads off sales, that on top of them already being in recession. Yet they still want to give a us a bad deal. Turkey's voting for Christmas comes...

Re: Had a GREAT test drive today.

But the 10% WTO tariff is charged on the price which Porsche AG charges Porsche Cars Great Britain - this will be hugely less than the retail price, so an uplift of 10% on the retail price is pure opportunism. An excellent point - thanks! :D Depends whether the priority for Porsche is cash margins ...

Re: Miles from tyres

My last Boxster had Michelins, the 718 has Pirellis. I want to change to Michelins upon replacement, but they're not available in the sizes (or at least that I can find). 718 is on 18,500 on the original Pirellis. But the ackermann skip is wearing. I don't recall the Michelins being as bad.

Re: Miles from tyres

Our McCann is on over 50,000 miles on the original tyres. SD on AS tyres. Unbelievable!

Re: My GTS still for sale...

TG did a piece on rally cars from the 80s a while back comparing them to their showroom equivalents from today. Interesting stuff; most of the modern cars could trounce the exotic stuff from a few years ago.

Re: Stop/Start & Hold Function

You folks with your PDKs and the perfect hold function really don't know the stress we manual drivers suffer all in the cause of purist motoring. :D :D :D Surely, for purist, you'd have a mechanical hand brake lever and you'd do a normal hill start? :) Of course. Plus an advance/retard lever on the...
