Re: SD residuals - What's the verdict?

Residuals are academic unless you sell it.

I think the value will come down to whether there is more talk of councils and government penalising diesel.

As far as I know in the UK, there is no additional cost for a Euro 6, although some boroughs apparently charge more for parking diesels .

Re: SD residuals - What's the verdict?

It's a tough sell given diesels have never been cleaner and ideally suited to a cayenne size vehicle, and yet now Porsche decide to stop

Re: Swapped SD for S

You're the one that needs to be happy with the deal, so my view is only that ! If you're going to keep the car a long time , the spec may be worth paying for but if not , it's just going to cost again in 2-3 Years . You can hear the salesman now talking about no pano , extras...... Is keeping your c...

Re: Rumours of Porsche diesels demise greatly exaggerated

Porsche seem to change their mind overnight with diesel so who knows what they'll decide tomorrow.

Relative to depreciation costs, the savings aren't that great so I'd just stick to petrol .

Those with confidence in their political masters will disagree.

Re: Change in circumstances post order

In that Landrover situation , I've got some sympathy for the dealers . Some one has spec'd a car to their choosing and can then walk away, and dealer groups are now working on low net margins .

Re: Who’d have thought.....!

If there are Diesel engines with comparable performance, then it's difficult to see how VW were so far off the pace that they were the only ones that had to fiddle it! But the manufacturers have been kicked around to achieve high mpg, low 0-60, highly reliable, cost effective and clean engines, whil...

Re: Switching my order from SD to GTS

The reason you're in this situation is politics. Buying an expensive diesel today makes that car's future value dependent upon what the courts, national government and councils decide over the coming years. Unless you have a pcp backstop. With petrol, it will cost you more on fuel (which you can rou...

Re: Diesel GONE!

The mood music in Europe is anti diesel, and I can only see this getting worse. No doubt there are discussions at governmental levels across Europe with car makers on this topic, and it will be interesting to see how it pans out. Diesels make sense for many drivers, but I don't fancy being caught in...

I'm sure the engine is great, but other then cheap deals , I don't understand why people buy Mercedes
