Re: Miles from tyres

The Macan GTS never had an option of All Season tyres in the size of the GTS alloy width. Nor can they be fitted now/after market or I might have gone with them. The car is sold with summer tyres, you have to buy winters if you want or need them.

Miles from tyres

After 18 months and 12,000 miles I have had to change the Pirelli tyres on the GTS. Town driving is obviously hard on wear compared to rolling along a motorway, but I was surprised that I only got 12k miles.

I have switched to Michelin for the replacement - interesting to see if they last any longer.

Re: Fuel consumption

In comparison I have just driven to Geisenfeld, a small town near Ingolstadt, and back in my Continental GT V8 S. Total distance covered 1502 miles - Overall 29.1 MPG - Average speed 58.2 mph. Max on A5, A8 Autobahns 135 mph, cruising at 83 mph on autoroutes in France and pottered around Bavaria fo...

Fuel consumption

My GTS is nearly 1 year old, and done around 8,000 miles. I drove up to north Wales and back at the weekend and got 30.1mpg on the way up on the motorway and 28.9mpg on the way back on the A5/M6/M1. I did 75mph on the motorway when it wasn't 50mpg restricted (which did help the average). Very happy ...

Re: Used Macan or New Merc GLC Coupe

I think it does depend on how much the tactile side of driving matters to you. If brake feel, or steering feedback, or body control matter to you, then the Macan is the one. If getting from A to B is the main thing, then not much in it.

Re: Road Rash / Chip Protection

I would do the front of the car and the door shuts. The high entrance means people scuff the door sill getting in and out. With PPF is just rubs off.

Re: End of the Macan diesel

The Law of Unintended Consequences is strong here. Diesel caught on because regulators were worried about CO2 emissions, and then the focus turned to cheating on the testing (although in Europe at least they weren't cheating as they were allowed to have a cheat mode!). Then the focus switched to NOx...

Re: Macan GTS 6000 mile review

Yes of course VanB, it's a Porsche! But while it's easy to do a remap to add power, it's not so easy to uprate the brakes and suspension. The Macan is a big old bus and Porsche had their reasons for fitting bigger rear discs to the Turbo and bigger again front and rear on the PP. Bigger brakes are ...

Re: Macan GTS 6000 mile review

Bear in mind though that it doesn't quite have the same brakes! The GTS brakes are the same at the front as the turbo. Its only the rears which are from the S. More importantly, the tyres on the GTS are wider than the Turbo models (265/295 vs 235/255) and the car is lighter (1845kg vs 1940kg), so b...

Re: PPF / Gtechniq/ no coating

Me and the next owner. I hate loads of scuffs on the door sill (I had to get them polished out before applying the film as it wasn't done from new)

And the next owner - suspect damage like that will affect the 'condition' of the car at sale.
