Re: New kind of theft?

The thing with thieve's, is that if it's something that can be stolen quite easily, they will have a go at it. Whatever it is, and then look to see how they can benefit from the item. It's the mindset they've got. It costs them nothing, and have something, especially if its valuable, whether they ca...

Re: To cover or not to cover

External car covers are hateful things - a pain when it rains and can’t go on unless car scrupulously clean. But this is why I have to use one…every mark is from foxes - and bear it mind it rained quite heavily recently which tends to clean the marks off - so this is all recent. Fox = not small wit...

Re: To cover or not to cover

Why not try something like a Carcoon, if neighbour is ok with that. Or maybe a gazeebo type cover, where the sides can be zipped closed with ease. That would be less time consuming than putting the cover on each night, especially when the car is wet or has dirt on it.

Re: ANB5 Re-programming DME control unit

don't think there is an option to not have it applied when serviced at porsche I declined to have the software update, as I wanted to retain the coasting function. The OPC agreed not to install the update. I heard some on here state, that the coasting function disappears after the update. But mine,...

Re: ANB5 Re-programming DME control unit

A few years ago, an upgrade was due on my DS. It went in for service a couple of times, and due to the negative comments about it, I told the dealers not to do it. But a year or so later, they said it's not optional, and failure to have the upgrade would negate my warranty. I had to give in then. :x

Re: Brake rotors

I wouldn't have thought the vibrations, are caused by the discs while travelling at unbraked speeds. They would show problems when the foot brake is applied, if the discs are warped. It sounds like there is a problem somewhre else.

Re: Macans are about to be uninsurable!

There was a national TV campaign, I think in the 1970’s. Yes that far back, that was informing the motorists of the importance, of having a hidden switch installed inside the car. That prevented it from starting/running, until it was made positive. I’m sure that something similar could be done the s...

EU Regulators Tell Manufacturers to Dial back use of Haptic screens

They have said that the increased use of screens for control of the vehicle, is basically getting out of hand. And is distracting and dangerous, while driving. If they want to get and keep the top NCap rating, they must get back to the old way of controlling functions. Starting from Jan 2026, Indica...

Re: Porsche 968 Video

Unfortunately Iain has got this one terribly wrong! Normally his videos are very good and he presents them well, but he should stick to Lambo's as his Porsche knowledge is a little lacking in this case. The car he is talking about is a 968 Sport, not one of the rare 179 UK Club Sports he claims it ...

Re: Porsche 968 Video

What a great presentation from Iain. I couldn’t agree more with all his comments. But the only one thing is they are 3.0 litres. And had the largest pistons in any car at that time. But I’m very biased though. I purchased one new, but the Sport version back in 1994. And it’s still with me today. It...
