These are luxury cars with a fast turn of speed not race cars. The important question for me is how the car makes me feel. In this respect I'd choose the Gen 1 GTS every time - the engine sounds epic from the first turn of the key without any of the fake pops and burbles on the later generation cars...

Vote here for Gen 1 GTS - save yourself £20K over a Gen 2 GTS and buy yourself a nice little Boxster with the spare cash and still have some left over for hotel money in France next summer. The Gen 1 GTS is superb and the exhaust note unmatched by the Gen 2. Yes, Gen 2 screen is a little nicer, but ...

I can understand the dilemma - the Gen 1 GTS is a wonderful charismatic car that I absolutely love. I doubt the Gen 2 GTS will reach the same heights so I can't see myself getting out of my Gen 1 for a long time but if I was in the market now I might be tempted by the Gen 2 as I suspect the new GTS ...

I was in the fortunate position of having the same decision, albeit intending to hang on to the car for much longer than you are. A good GTS is circa 50K from an approved dealership whereas a nicely specced brand new S is around 60K. The S seemed to make more sense. In the end I drove a 3-year old G...
