Re: New GTS at dealer next week

I’m in a similar position – my new S is at the OPC awaiting final payment and collection. My personal circumstances haven’t changed and I would still like to have a new car. Note the word “like” not “need”. I could manage with what I have already but want to enjoy the fruits of my past labours while...

Re: Bit of Fun the sub 256 CO2 Build challenge

Interesting game with expensive implications. I took my S build with its standard 18 inch wheels – 252 g/km - and deleted the 75 litre fuel tank and spare wheel (1 g/km each). This took the figure to 250 g/km which is just inside the next lower band, but only just. Interesting that having air suspen...

Re: New GTS, March build date

My new S is sitting at the OPC registered but not taxed .... ?? has to be both.....can’t register a car without taxing it ?? (Unless you then SORN it straight away, but you’d need the log-book.) Interesting question about an area where I've not considered the details. The car has its registration n...

Re: New GTS, March build date

My new S is sitting at the OPC registered but not taxed and not insured by me. All told, I’d rather it’s safe there than conspicuously in my drive. It’s not as if I’d use it anyway given the lockdown. The only place I’ll be going near term is the shops and I either walk to a nearby supermarket or ta...

Re: New GTS, March build date

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but unless you have some special secret arrangement you’re not going to get your car this week. Porsche has shut down in the UK. I’m in the same situation. My car arrived at the OPC a week or so ago. Due to a number of c**k-ups it wasn’t possible to collect it toda...

Re: Ordered 2.0 Base Macan

Your spec is similar to mine in that you’ve gone for 18 inch wheels although you’ve paid £387 to up-spec them to the S wheels. The standard wheels look decent to me. I’d save the money and go with standard wheels. Other thing is sill guards which can't be seen most of the time – I’d rather spend the...

Re: Macan - best all rounder?

Agree the Macan is the best all-rounder currently on the market at this price level . Taking money into account I would have thought some other cars with 4 cylinders, lesser performance and slightly inferior ride/handling are better value as the Macan - particularly the Turbo - is an expensive car. ...

Re: New M5 versus my Macan GTS

Good write up. A shame BMW has moved so far away from ride comfort towards handling. The ride of our i3S is pretty poor on many roads which is a shame as the interior and powertrain are so good. Ride comfort is what steered me to the Macan - along with the powertrain.
