Re: How much ?

I’ve read with interest, the posts following my initial posting. I’m slightly surprised that there were no comments about the price of the Ipace, which at £88,000 seems exorbitant to me when you compare it to a Macan of similar specification. Well, remember that I-Pace performance is roughly on a p...

Re: How much ?

I think I see your thinking. In the end the economic decision will be judged by £/ml... Just to be 100% clear, my comment about different efficiency regimes vs journey type for BEV and fossil cars was purely an explanation of why the reported range appeared to degrade on the I-Pace in that video. I...

Re: How much ?

Interesting comments on efficiency. I recall (mathematical) dimensional analysis indicates you can’t compare MPG with Wh/mile the common unit is (probably) best expressed as £/mile. Not sure anyone's suggesting a direct equivalence between mpg and Wh/mile, simply that BEVs are most efficient over l...

Re: How much ?

It may be just my misunderstanding of your use of the word 'efficient' in this context. Do you mean 'utilisation' in the sense of recharging v refuelling over longer distances? Just the usual meaning of the word really - efficiency as in mpg or (for EVs) Wh/mile (often expressed as kWh/100 miles) -...

Re: How much ?

Thoroughly enjoyed that - a real world review of driving an EV. Really highlights that for non-Tesla drivers the charging infrastructure in the UK is appalling. And Ionity now charging 69p per KWH is a joke - makes it more expensive that petrol! Well, yes and no. What it actually demonstrates is th...

Re: 2016 SD

Aren't most manufacturers going down the pack route, especially over the past few months? I see two reasons cited: Stricter emissions rules seem to have come into effect recently. 'Stricter' in the sense that the car makers have less latitude to offer options that might affect emissions (eg extra we...

Potentially too far away, but my well=optioned 2016 Rhodium SD (34K) is still on with Kings Lynn Audi at £34999:

Q3_dash.JPG Manufacturer's stock Q3 photo (LHD of course). The large panel above the HVAC controls is the main infotainment/satnav screen. but the satnav can also be displayed in the 'virtual cockpit' in the dash display. This is definitely one of the more impressive features of the Q3 (provided ap...

Re: The start of goodbye

Thanks for the comments, chaps. One other point that I meant to add is that it's quite refreshing to be driving a petrol car again, after the diesel. Worth saying that I think diesel has been unfairly demonised - I suspect that a modern diesel is actually much cleaner than it's being given credit fo...

Re: The start of goodbye

New Audi Q3 Sportback 45 TFSI Vorsprung in Dew Silver delivered a couple of weeks back (700 miles up now) - here are some early impressions. First, a word of background. My previous drive was a Porsche Macan SD which I ran for 3.5 years. An excellent car, but I gradually grew to wanting something ha...
