Re: All-season tyres commentary

I agree with your evaluation. They have not given any acceptable evidence to exclude this type of tyre. I have a decision to make as I need to renew my front 2 after 4.5 years of SD ownership which remainder of the 5yr warranty to run and just 27K miles on the clock with the original Good Year Eagle...

Re: Forward planning

Thanks for the feedback. They seem much more realistic figures for the work required. I will go check in with them as to what is included in the quote.

Re: Forward planning

My SD is due its 4 year service April on fools day. The OPC have quoted me £1,150 the mileage will be approx 27K just 10k more than the 2 year service. Can anyone confirm if this is typical Porsche pricing? It also has the extended warranty as I have no intention of selling particularly now I am a l...

Re: Battery conditioner/charger

As mentioned, CTEK is a must IMHO for any modern car as they all drain. As is a full fuel refill with something like BP Ultimate fuel. We tend to travel for in excess of a month for and have always used it to great effect - Touch Wood shame the brakes squeal so much though until it has had a good bl...

Re: Re-progamming DME Control Unit

Mine is in for MOT, Extended Warranty 111 point inspection new transfer box and the DME update. The OPC gave me positive feedback on this update so will have to wait and see. I will report how it goes as we are off to Kerry next week so it should have a couple of k more mileage on it.

Re: Transfer box - Survey of members

SD - March 2016 - 22K miles Last few months noticed a slight clutch slippy type feel at low speed but then gone. when I took it in to have a 111 point pre extension warranty check they said the transfer had started failing. Being replaced as we speak with the latest upgraded version which they say w...

Re: May Need New Tyres..

Mine also has 19" wheels and is on Good Year Eagle LS2 N0. At 14K miles loads of wear left. IMHO they are very good allrounders at a very reasonable price.

Wheel Seized on Hubs

I got within 5 miles of a fishing day on the Test last week and the rear offside tyre got a puncture. I have to say the pressure sensors are excellent, stopping me wrecking the wheel/ tyre and luckily glided into a layby. Promptly unloaded the stuff, jacked up the car and removed the bolts only to f...

Detailing and washing your Macan

Due to the fact my Macan is not in daily use I find that there is an incredible rust build up if left even for just a few days. So I mentioned it whilst at the OPC and they recommended that I take it for a short spin just after washing to cleanse and dry the disks as the chemicals accelerate this es...

Insurance - WTF

My renewal with NFU came through last week and having checked around and having seen the prices rise approx 14% on last year it seems to be the industry average for my age group anyway, NFU remain the best by a fair bit on my Freelander 2 and Macan @ £703 for both especially we know it includes GAP.
