Re: Another Transfer Box bites the dust
I too have had the dreaded transfer box call on my petrol S at 40k miles and 5 years old. Now 2 years out of warranty but Portsmouth have been hugely supportive and agreed to cover the entire cost. This follows last year's gasket replacement potential nightmare which came to almost £6.5K but was als...

Re: Oil Leak - Engine out?
An oil leak on my 2016 Petrol "S" was traced to gasket failure in April - one year out of warranty - which opc (Portsmouth) scheduled 5 days to replace all gaskets and related seals (except head gasket). The negotiated customer contribution came to 12% (equivalent to 29% of labour cost) wh...

Re: Transfer box - Survey of members
What does this MOTUL DCTF cost? Some of their gear oil seems to sell for well over £2,000.- !

Re: Oil Useage
That's strange as my OPC (Portsmouth) supplies SAE 0W-40. As my 2016 Petrol S uses very little oil between services (circa 10k pa) I've so far never needed a top up. Oil grade seems a fairly movable feast!

Re: Approximate range with a 75l tank on a new Macan S
I have squeezed 72 litres into my petrol S tank (so know it's the 75 L tank) but have yet to achieve 25 mpg. 400 miles to final drop and refill at 380 best so far (in urban driving - not a lot better on the m/way). Is that bad for a turboed 3L petrol engine?

Re: Insurance
NFU way over the top for me: I got A Plan brokers to do the hard work and they came back with a 60% discount on NFU - originally Aviva but now changed again and down to £550. They also do my other vehicle and M/C saving me a lot of time.

Re: Transfer Box Replacement
Hi Happy Days 911 & Porsche World have email and sub contacts but don't seem to advertise their website. Salient points mentioned are that no damage seems to accrue to the transmission when the car is driven with a faulty transfer box and when a replacement is fitted the only visible difference ...

Re: Transfer Box Replacement
Excellent article in May edition of 911 & Porsche magazine on transfer box replacement. Fully illustrated and costed they describe symptoms and note that diagnosis should not prevent usage as no apparent adverse impact on the rest of the vehicle.

Re: Transfer box - Survey of members
April 2016 Macan S (Petrol) 26K miles. Just had MOT and oil change. No transfer box issues (yet!)
OPC very helpful and accepted box was a design/manufacturing fault.

Re: Transfer Box Number 2
I share your unease Mancman. The Audi/VW Group have plenty of experience of 4WD systems and I haven't heard of transfer box problems on other vehicles in the Group (including the Cayenne). Surely Jaguar/Rover do not suffer these issues with their 4WD vehicles (and nor has my 13 year old Mitsubishi)....
