Most of the Germans here just get a winter set on 18s, and save their 21s for the Summer! I have roof bars because I like the option of using them .... the parents are getting old and need a lot of ferrying about and would be gutted to need a roof box but not be able to use one if i needed to.

I hear what others say about the bigger wheels filling the arches but rolling circumference is the same on all the wheels, so gap from top of tyre to wheel arch should be the same.
