Macan S diesel or petrol

There is a lot to be said for the SD engine in our Macans, its shedload of low down torque makes it very easy to drive. Its great as a cruiser and still comes on strong when pushing it through the twisties. The issue I have with the diesel is with the top end delivery, it plateaus. Now BMW have got i...

Thanks Col. Looks like you are losing just under 5 inches (or about 12cm) on each side from the mechanism. That is about the same as my old up and over doors. I still might explore whether there is a lower profile mechanism available. The alternative would be to convert to a single door (big job) or...

New garage doors

Most sectional doors fit behind the opening so there is no frame to take up space. My understanding is that they can fit behind the brickwork as you describe or can fit within the brick aperture. Unfortunately the central pillar in my double garage is deeper than the brickwork at the edge, so any d...

New garage doors

Does anyone know how much space a sectional door takes up if fitted in the brick opening? My brick aperture is 230cm but reduced to about 205 by the up-and-over mechanism. Does a sectional door take up less space? If so, how much less?

Same problem I have. Macan will live on the drive rather than a roller door - I really don't like the way they look. Sectional doors look much more classy. Might be investigating that option. I suspect it will be expensive though.

Macan S diesel or petrol

The advice on here will be petrol - but you must remember the forum is full of petrol heads and enthusiasts. I would drive both and see if that makes the decision for you. I quite like the more relaxed style of the SD with bags of low rev torque. Others prefer a high revving petrol engine. The perfo...
