Re: Creative on-street charging solution
It is quite a reasonable solution for on street charging. :D Is there anything to stop the kids / drunks from the pub / people having a laugh .......from unplugging all the cables?? Absolutely none. But no anecdotal evidence as far as I’m aware. And saw many plugged into streetlights in London rece...

Creative on-street charging solution
345DA176-5F61-41EE-8AF6-A2E96DB04699.jpeg Saw this in Bath yesterday. Owner clearly has worked some sort of fudge via a standard infrastructure cover. Have they employed a redundant portal? And ignoring the status of cable cover how exactly is this possible, practical and legal. And if legal, what ...

Re: Apple Carplay – retro fit cost ?
Hi. Yes that’s what prompted the questions. £200 is a whole lot less than anything else I’ve seen and I always worry when there’s such a differential.
They say no apparent warranty issues but I wondered whether any forum members had gone to an independent and experienced any issues - of any sort.

Re: Cracked rear brake covers
Update… All now resolved via - after a bit of investigation - the very understanding independent. Apparently the extraction tool - a standard VW item - was faulty. This was discovered by the independent walking through the process. So both centre parts of the callipers now replaced FOC. Not the cove...

Re: Apple Carplay – retro fit cost ?
I’ve seen independents offering OEM upgrades for as little as £200 as a remote over-the-air service. A couple of questions… Is the OPC upgrade just a download or is there hardware involved? Would there be warranty issues, if any, by going via an independent for a non mechanical item? Ed. Mine is a M...

Re: Cracked rear brake covers
Looks like corrosion under the surface coating, therefore only cosmetic. The thing is that the covers are not available as a separate part - at least they’re not listed. If not available at all then it means replacing the entire calliper! There’s also a history (in the US) of them falling off. So i...

Re: Cracked rear brake covers
Hopefully ??? not a major issue if only the "Porsche" cover plate is cracked / worn. Is it easy just to fit a new "Porsche" cover plate? I will check mine. Ah, that’s the thing… it’s not available as a replacement part!!! Entire calliper only!!! Here’s the link to the US thread…...

Re: Cracked rear brake covers
That looks scary. Does that crack on the second pic', extend into the main body of the calliper?, it looks like it may do. If so, TBH I would be very cautious about driving the vehicle, if at all. If it goes pop, your front brakes will work, but there will be no rears to stabilize it. Then this one...

Cracked rear brake covers
As you may be aware the rear brakes are generic with a branded cover plate. The cover plate on my 2016 S (35K miles) has growing cracks on the driver’s side (both pics) and is showing signs of similar on the near side as the paint (?) is also lifting from one edge. My first thought was that it was d...
