Got to get past a Porsche

White van men always thought they could give my Boxster a run for its money. Actually it hasn't been as bad in the Macan.

Where does the money go?

With this sort of profit on each car it explains why Porsche was one of the last makes to put up prices due to exchange rate and by a lot less than the 20% or so that sterling has deprecated in the last year. The other high volume low margin brands had to react quicker or make a loss. Rab J2017-03-2...

I have the posh filler cap. Feels like a Polycarbonate/ABS moulding to me. Chrome plated. You can see the hex bolts are an integral part of the moulding. Nice touch but at the price I did expect a CNC machined billet aluminium part. Of course it should machined from a solid billet and be standard o...

Space saver wheel

Q5 certainly has the same stud spacing and the 18" size will clear the brakes on anything other than a full Turbo, so seems very probable. The offset might be the only issue. The spare in my Macan is a 6Bx18H2 FT14 so 14mm offset.Rab J2017-03-18 20:48:24

Spec finalised yesterday

Nice car. White blades on a white would be my choice, looks very classy. As for 21" on standard suspension, everyone to their own, but I had a three day test in a diesel with that and hadn't any issue.

Facelift version affect on current prices

I don't think there will be much of a price reduction for current models. Again those who purchased prior to VED and price rises have already had huge savings. +1. By getting mine before price rise and car tax rise (I hope!) I have "saved" nearly £3,700 and some Macaneers may be looking at similar ...

Display problems

I had a few issues with loosing digital radio station tuning and general erratic behaviour from my PCM from day one. After a few attempts at fixes the complete PCM was changed. Problem solved, so there are faulty ones about. This was all before the latest software update, which has just lately been ...

TTRS / 718S / some random bimmer

Just been reading a similar test report in last weeks Autocar. Came to much the same conclusion, Audi sounds great, drives ok with great real world traction, BM sounds ok, to stiff, drive terrible over normal roads, with limited traction, Cayman drives and handles sublimely on normal roads, lots of ...

... especially if it's a software upgrade which doesn't cost Porsche anything ...  Do Porsche software engineers work for free? Guy, I'm sure they don't work for free, but their job will be to develop different versions of electric steering feel, one of which Porsche calls standard, one that Pors...

Oddly I can't have it added to my pre registered Cayenne.. Very noticeable difference when I test drove a cayenne with PS+. Didn't think it would make such a difference to the overall feel of the car. I was a bit shocked to start with but can more than live with it now. Had it on my Macan and it wa...
