Re: What did you change your Macan S for?

Well done for pulling us out of the EV range rabbit hole! If I hadn't bought a Taycan, I would have bought a 911. I drive the Taycan more than I would have driven a 911 though because it has a useful boot and proper rear seats. But if I hadn't needed those... difficult decision. Probably the Taycan...

Re: What did you change your Macan S for?

I think with electric vehicles you have to take any WLTP figures with a pinch of salt. It completely depends on the type of journey you are undertaking. Lots of low distance with stop/start and regenerative braking you can eke out a high range. But if you are doing distance at speed then the range ...

Re: What did you change your Macan S for?

Would like to know what your range is in winter with full demand on, heaters, wipers, seats, etc, and at 70 mph when on motorway, against the stated WLTP range. Some say expect between 50 and 75%. I can't reliably answer that question as I haven't done a long run in the situation which you describe...

Re: What did you change your Macan S for?

Moved to a Taycan 4S in January. Fantastic car. Had to adjust my expectations from 600+ miles on a full tank to 250 miles being a full charge - but I have had no range issues at all. Never had to use a public charger, all charging at home/work/relatives if staying over night. No regrets. Unlikely t...

Re: What did you change your Macan S for?

I can't reliably answer that question as I haven't done a long run in the situation which you describe. I have recently done some long runs (in the last 2 weeks) - 125 miles (motorway at 75 then some not-so-slow driving on A-roads) used 49% battery. Return trip was more traffic (therefore slower) an...

Re: EV Running costs dearer than ICE

As said above, the Taycan is not a 911. I have only driven a couple of 911s, one at PEC and the other on a decent length test drive. They are fantastic and handle extremely well. The Taycan also handles well, and although it disguises it's weight well, it is not up there with 911 handling. However t...

Re: EV Running costs dearer than ICE

So, I had a Macan for nearly 5 years and moved to a Taycan in January. As you know, petrol and diesel prices have gone up a lot, but electricity even more. When I ordered it I was paying 12p/kWh. The company then went bust and I am on a standard tariff, currently at 27p/kWh. At this rate it costs ab...

Re: Lycra louts return.

I think that cyclists are intrinsically a problem. I cycle, but try hard to keep out of the way of cars (keep will to the left etc). But if you look at all of the road users (cars, lorries, cyclists, pedestrians, horses etc.) you will probably find that all groups hate the cyclists, but all manage t...
