Hello!
I’m in the process of changing from my 992 into a Turbo.
My head overruled my heart (and the bank balance had something to say!) so I thought I’d take advantage of the high used prices given the current global chip shortage. It just so happened that my local OPC had a new turbo on the floor - what were the chances?
Moving from a 992C4S to a Macan Turbo
Do have a good look at the options that the dealer has included to see if it includes your desirables.
I have had a gen 1 for five years and love it.
Whilst the Turbo is pretty good without any extras being included.
ACC, rear airbags, heated steering wheel, surround cam would be on my must have list for a Turbo.

Hi Col,
Thanks for your post.
Yep, the dealer pretty much picked every box (bar the rear air bags and auto dimming mirrors)… apart from those options it is very similar to your specification.
I’d have liked the rear air bags but to be honest I rarely have any back seat passengers.
Thanks for your post.

I did a night drive test in 2016 of a Macan without auto dimming mirrors. I found that there was no dazzle from following cars lights. So I have not specified them on either of my Macans. In 4 plus years I have never found it to be a problem at all.

I agree, it seemed an odd omission from my dealer specced SD, especially as they had been so effective in my Cayman. However, not once have I needed them in 4 years.

I think the auto-dimming mirrors are more beneficial in the sports cars (911, Cayman, Boxster) as these cars ride much lower than Macans and Cayennes.

When I first had my Cayenne (back in 2013) the nearside headlight was set a bit high. This caused annoyance to cars I was overtaking, given the high ride height of the Cayenne. One or two used to put there headlights on main beam after I'd completed the manouevre just to express the annoyance. Given the auto-dimming mirrors, this gesture didn't concern me at all.
I've had this feature on all three of my Porsche's but I think the guys above are probably right, it's not that essential.
