Afternoon all,
Just thought I would say Hello! I have decided after buying and running new Merc's for the last twenty years to buy a Porsche. All sorts of reasons but basically service from official Merc dealer was abysmil plus oppertunity to spec a build on a new car has really been limited now.

Over last couple of months looked at a number of marques and cars and although originally was going to go for a Panamera, I was taken over by the Macan and having found this forum and reading its many posts have decided to buy a new Macan GTS after my wife gave that nod of acceptance!!

I have visited the OPC that I wish to do buisness with and sales guy was really helpful as well, and understood why I wanted the options I did. I now have an appointment next Wednesday to pay my deposit and get the ball rolling. I know there will be a long wait but Im sure it will be worth it and for those interested this will be the build Im going for.

I look forward to keeping in touch and maybe some pics when the car arrives, I will of course appreaciate any comments from those Macan experts on the forum if I have made a mistake in my build, but Im happy with it.

Cheers GTB (Gareth).

I wouldn't wait until next Wednesday to put down your deposit. Every day wasted means someone else could get in front of you. Welcome aboard.

Welcome. Fairly new here myself but people here seem friendly and helpful ( with a healthy dose of sarcasm and ribbing thrown in ).

The spec looks great. I had my reservations about Gentian Blue, but looking at the latest video released I think it looks fantastic. Much better in the videos than on the configurator.

Only part of your spec I’d do without is the self parking. My current car has self parking ( not a Porsche ) and in the 4 years I’ve owned it I have never used it.

OmniCognate Snr,
Thanks for the prompt reply and comments. Gentian Blue was chosen given car being traded in was red, plus silver and a dark grey metallic vehicles already in the drive, so Blue was really colour to go for, I live and have to drive along many country roads plus a fair bit of motorway driving so that put black and white out, anyway when visiting the OPC they had a couple of other cars in Gentian and they looked stunning and depending on angle and sunlight the colour really did change about so think it will look good when it arrives.

I have had the self parking on my current Merc and although absolutely petrified at first using it, I actually use it nearly all the time, my wife doesnt use it, but I think its a confidence thing. Going into tight parking bays, parrallel parking in busy streets it really is easy once you have confidence and in the four years with that car, the system has never failed me nor ever hit an alloy against the kerb. I was hoping the Porsche system is just as good.

Cheers GTB

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Supporting OmniCognateSnr's post above, My wife has had self-parking on two Tiguans and in over six years has yet to use it. Reading your post, you obviously are a regular user.

Welcome.

Great colour and an excellent spec.

Consider adding a spare wheel then buy a repair pack from Halfords/Amazon. Since 2016 I have had four punctures in my Macans. Having a spare gives options and potentially not having to wait for the transporter if you get an irreparable puncture.

Also the single most loved option I chose was the heated steering wheel, I use it far more than the heated seats.

Welcome along!

I’m new to the forum and in Scotland too… in South Lanarkshire. I’m picking up my Macan next Wednesday from Glasgow OPC... I can’t wait 😄
That looks like a great spec, I love Gentian blue, it is a stunning colour.
