Now that I have your attention I'd like to say 'hello' to the forum. Long time BMW driver here, although been in a Volvo the last couple of years.
I'm considering the Macan S, with a view to ordering in the next few weeks. For a delivery March/April next year.
Obviously I'm going through the usual 'spec anxiety' and would appreciate feedback. Specifically, the air suspension. I'm used to, and like, a firm set up. Indeed, my wife who suffers from motion sickness, finds it more tolerable than a more 'relaxed' suspension setting. Given the above, does air suspension bring me any positive benefits over the standard set up. And are there any downsides?
Cheers!

Firmest set up must be steel suspension and 21 inch wheels. Advantages with air are ability to adjust the ride height, biggest change there comes by putting it in off-road mode, however, with 21 wheels you'll need to stick religiously to tarmac and just take a little more notice if you use any fords.

I would say Air also continuously levels the car at the chosen height and for a given height, PASM stiffness setting and wheel size that serves to improve ride quality over PASM aloneNeil1911 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 11:19 am Firmest set up must be steel suspension and 21 inch wheels. Yes, that was a Turbo (the car not the lady )
For the OP, the best option would be steel suspension with PASM (Porsche Adaptive Suspension Management).

Ah, so if I went for a 21" wheel, then air would give me the additional suspension compliance, as and when needed.pmg wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 11:34 amI would say Air also continuously levels the car at the chosen height and for a given height, PASM stiffness setting and wheel size that serves to improve ride quality over PASM aloneNeil1911 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 11:19 am Firmest set up must be steel suspension and 21 inch wheels. For clarity, the PASM gives the ability to alter the damping 'stiffness'. BMW call this adaptive suspension, but I think the principal is the same. Air is an additional option over PASM.

Oddly I haven’t been since I was a small boy ( when dinosaurs roamed the Earth) but every EV I’ve test driven has given me motion sickness because their suspension is so soft.Nick the Greek wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 12:39 pmThank you. That's useful to know. Mrs NTG is susceptible to motion sickness, so PASM may be the better option.
