Hi, I'm new here and will be looking to buy a Macan GTS / Turbo soon (need to sell my RS5 first :D )

Family practicalities means the RS5 is now a bit selfish although I do love the RS.

Is there a buyer's guide on here that would help me decide on best spec / accessories etc? Or is there one readily available and I've just not found it yet :o

Budget will be ~£35-40K, so any guidance on sensible age, spec, model based upon this value would be appreciated.

I'm sensing a 2017-2018 GTS with mid mileage and decent spec for this, or am I way off? I've really only got Autotrader / Ebay as sample pricing but I'm aware these can be way off a realistic pricepoint. I would prefer to buy off of a owner's forum if possible.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Tim

No, there's no buyers guide and if there was it would be subject to never ending debate! Look at this, you should find it of interest, although it is around the as yet unreleased upgraded version: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=11125
I was on the lookout for a Macan for a couple of years but never saw one that ticked my boxes and made me take the plunge so ended up buying new. You sound as if you're after something a bit more hard-core than mine but you're hog-tied by what's available, so having a specific spec will be painful! Just keep an eye out for GTS/Turbos they are unlikely to be poorly spec'd and will be a cracking drive regardless of options!

Welcome to the forum.

No way will you find a 2017/18 GTS that meets your requirements within your budget. I thinkj your range is about £10k low but good hunting.

Welcome.

How long is a piece of string.

The good bit though is that GTS and Turbo have good standard specs before options are added with the Turbo having a more powerful engine and 14/18 way seats as standard.

Take a look at my spec below my signature to get an idea of what a Turbo owner will include.

PASM is standard on both as is larger wheels.

Suggested minimum options
Rev Cam ideally Surround Cam
Pano roof
Connect
14/18 way seats in a GTS

Nice to have
ACC
PS+ (power steering but as its software it can be added)
Spare wheel
LED lighting
Internal light pack
Internal storage pack.

First gen Macans had less standard features so do be aware of that and by that it is pre 2016 models when rear heating, mobile phone, sat nav, and the screen were all optional.

You may find a lot of bling, it goes with Porsche ownership for many

Do search the forum prior to asking a question as it has probably been asked many times already and there will be plenty of responses.
Col
Macan Turbo
Air, 20” wheels, ACC, Pano, SurCam, 14w, LEDs, PS+, Int Light Pack, Heated seats and Steering, spare wheel, SC, Privacy glass, PDK gear, SD mirrors, Met Black, rear airbags

Hi,

I agree with a previous post, you’ll probably need another £10k for a GTS. I bought in June this year from an OPC after having a disastrous spell with a Merc EQC (convinced myself I’d help save the planet with electric, but awful range). I started looking for a GTS but couldn’t get car/spec I wanted within budget. I was close to buying a March 2017 GTS at £50k, but then stumbled on my 2018 S with tons of options for a few £k less. However I’ve had a few issues rumbling on with the car but that’s another story.

The problem you have (and I had) is the fact that because of Covid, the asking price for used cars has increased significantly. The semiconductor shortage means fewer new cars being sold, therefore less used. And the used stock is quite often pretty poor to be honest.

Prices have jumped significantly over past year. I almost traded in my 2013 Boxster (after 7 years ownership) for a Cayman in Jan 19 but couldn’t quite settle for the 4 cylinder sound. I was offered £22k pre-pandemic…..now WBAC keep offering me £29k! It’s now my fun Toy :D

Unfortunately us used buyers have to dig quite a bit deeper. There are some nice cars still out there, just need to work harder to find.

Good luck with your search….the GTS is still the sweet spot of the Macan range in my opinion

Even in normal pre COVID times your budget is optimistic. A 2017 GTS would be upwards of £50k in today’s market.
June 2017 Macan GTS in Carmine red with 21” gloss black sport classics, GTS leather package, Air, PASM, PDLS+, pano roof, Sports Chrono, 18 way seats, BOSE, surround view, heated seats front and rear, carbon side blades and carbon interior package.
