Had running boards specced for my Turbo - only when I tried them out on a demo car, I removed them immediately. I did like the look though.

Why did you remove them? I haven’t specced them but the look is growing on me for the ‘future’ Macan.mueslibrown wrote: ↑Thu Sep 23, 2021 9:51 am Had running boards specced for my Turbo - only when I tried them out on a demo car, I removed them immediately. I did like the look though.

So I really liked the look but everytime I got out (must be my short legs) I kept brushing the back of shins on them and when wet or dirty that won't be a good look. Even the SE said 'Oh you've specced running boards ...' - I think he knew what was coming.

Agreed. RB's on a Porsche are second only to Roof racks and Mud flapsmueslibrown wrote: ↑Thu Sep 23, 2021 9:51 am Had running boards specced for my Turbo - only when I tried them out on a demo car, I removed them immediately. I did like the look though.

On the motorway last Tuesday I saw a white Macan/Cayenne on the opposite carriageway with a caravan behind and several bikes on the roof rack. Ultimate blasphemy?

I'm hoping the toerags of this world are more interested in the sports car end of the range rather than the shopping trollies.

In 1965, I ran into the back of one of them when it failed to move off at a set of traffic lights and I was too busy chatting to the pretty girl in the back of my car to notice. A modern safety system would have saved my embarrassment.
Welcome to the forum. I'd support all those who say running boards are more trouble than they're worth. I can understand them on a Ford F150 or Dodge Ram but you don't step up into a Macan.
If you're worried about security, make sure you don't tick comfort entry/exit.

Had running boards on my landy. Very hand to stand on when cleaning the roof, or plugging the leaks in the sunroof ( it was a landrover after all ). Other than that they were aesthetically pleasing but great at rubbing mud down your trowser leg when getting in and out.On-Track wrote: ↑Thu Sep 23, 2021 12:41 pmIf you read the thread below, your Reliant Regal brought back painful memoriesBluesnose1812 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 23, 2021 6:45 am Finally convinced my beautiful other half that I should get a decent car at long last. Thanks Nick. The reason for the running boards was so the missus could reach and clean the roof easier! But having chosen Black I wanted less side splatter. However I have taken on board the comments re mud on your legs so may reconsider and buy some steps for her:PNuclear Nick wrote: ↑Thu Sep 23, 2021 7:15 am Welcome Bluesnose!
Interesting list of cars but I couldn't spot the 'fine' ones!
Lovely S spec you have there. You'll find that lots here will help you spend more money! But we all have our own preferences and the only thing I would suggest is ditching the running boards which are ugly and get in the way of getting out of the car and putting the money towards 14-way comfort seats with memory. After all, for me, seats are the most important aspect of the car, it's where you spend all your time when driving! And the memory function brings some useful benefits too. I'd suggest you try 14-ways in a demonstrator car.

I did a fair amount of research and the overriding opinion is that its simply the best SportsUV. My Dad had a 928 so I've always had a soft spot for the marque. When I read the spec of the 22 model I just knew I would enjoy it. I decided to sod the cost and go for it.PorscheMack wrote: ↑Thu Sep 23, 2021 9:32 amIncidentally, I have owned over 40 cars, rarely having two at the same time, and even more rarely keeping for more than 3 years. It's an addiction that's hard to explain.. Why did you choose the Macan out of interest?PorscheMack wrote: ↑Thu Sep 23, 2021 9:28 am Hi,
I would have thought at your young age you would have gone for the GTS Maybe next time
