I don’t think you will regret the base 2.0l. I picked up my Gen 3 Base a month ago and it has exceeded my expectations. I have had a string of 3.0l / 6 Cyl diesels and I don’t find the 2.0l Macan wanting at all. Sure the S is ‘quicker’ but in the real world that extra power is mostly wasted. As a daily driver I wanted something with reasonable mpg and I’ve seen many reports of the S getting less than 19mpg round town and in short runs. The 2.0l is 25 round town and over 30 on a longer run. As for being stuck behind traffic as Col Lamb seems to always quote, it’s simply not true - but then he is the biggest 2.0l Macan basher on here. The 265 bhp is honestly plenty.
I was lucky to pick up a showroom car with some upgrades such as tinted rear lights, black tail pipes, painted mid section and lower section bumpers and GT steering wheel and these all make the overall look so much better that if I ordered again I would certainly add them.
Also the car has 21 inch wheels and no pASM and I find the ride very very good - much better than previous BMWs. Interestingly I had a loan car last week which was a 2.0l on air suspension and I did not like the ride as much…..and I live in the Cotswolds where the roads are not the best!
Just my opinion but I think you will be fine.
The S 's or V6's giving around 20 tend to be the Gen1's. The mpg of the Gen 2 and Gen 3 Audi V6's does not appear to vary much by type S, GTS or Turbo. MPG variation for these is more type of use. My Gen2 S does about 20 mpg while warming up for the first 5 miles but once warm 25 mpg in town, 27/28 mpg running around the downland roads In West Sussex and 30 plus on long runs. On a 200 mile round trip to Dorset, this week including 2 cold starts and oil not fully warm for at least the first 10 miles, I got 31mpg. I am measuring brim to brim and the figures from the MFD readout are no different I am running the car on 99 octane fuel. over 12000 miles I have averaged 28.5 mpg
One factor that has not been said in this discussion so far is the warm up time. That would be less for a 2 litre so if only doing short runs then the base may make greater sense but if a reasonable number of long runs then S with its greater refinement wins

My 2020 S has averaged 26.7 mpg over 5000 miles during the 12 months I’ve had it, but a lot of these miles have been urban driving
That’s good for urban driving.
Sometimes driving like Miss Daisy has it’s positives

Just looked at your spec and really do think £63,000 plus another £2k for VED is making that a very expensive 2.0. Although I am getting a 2.0 my build was £53,500 ( at old price ) plus VED . If I had a budget of £63,000 I would definitely go for the S.
Agreed. For £63k, you could get a very nice S. It would be more enjoyable to drive and give you a much better sale/trade in value in the future.

I'm in the same boat ie Base with PASM and 20inch standard S wheels, quad exhaust (not sports) plus 14 way seats and leather on order since Sept. I also owned a Golf R but the Estate (we need a sub Group for Ex R owners!)
Im tempted by the S but to keep within budget I would need to drop to the base seats with non leather ( I assume RaceTech seat inserts)...Having tested a car with them in I found them comfortable......and don't mind not having Leather if the cloth is a decent quality
Upgrade from my Base Order to the S by downgrading the seats? Any Thoughts????
Also my Dealer, who is very helpful ,has advised that if I change model Porsche won't honour the old price...hence needing the Seat & Leather cull!
Based on the advice here I'm going to upgrade to the S from the Base...Base is the sensible option and is a great car but in hindsight my spec was well over the top!
Thoughts on the new code PNGPCPG3?
thanks to Col especially for his advice and a balanced view of the Base!

Really nice looking car. I would sacrifice PDLS Plus and Lane Warning to stretch to the Partial Leather Interior. You get the benefit of the seat facings with the 14 ways so it would be nice to go for the dashboard and armrests to make it feel more like a 60k car inside but I can see you are putting a premium on functional kit rather than cosmetic treatment.

Very nice spec. Just needs the black handles to go with the rails, windows, mirror and blades.
Not immediately noticable but when spotted people will think 'Nice touch'
