To paint a picture, I recently took delivery of a very stripped back Gentian Macan Gen 3. I now regret going with a standard fabric interior and no pan roof. I’m considering placing a new order and leveraging the experience on this group to inform the options. I’d then sell my current one or replace my partners car with it. I want a sensible spec with minimal spend/wastage.

In addition to thoughts/comments on the build, I’d be keen to hear peoples views on:

8 way seats with leather interior versus 14 way leather seats (appreciate some items are missed versus opting for a leather interior).

Surround view vs using the mirror dip from the 14 way package

Aluminium Interior finish - anyone got examples of it on theirs?

Power steering plus - keen to hear views from people who have run both.

Chrono (my current S has it) - do people typically spec this on their Macans?

Thanks in advance!
Little bit cheeky highjacking someone else's thread as now people will not be sure which spec they're commenting on.

With your current car you've got the base interior option. Only you can decide how much leather you want. Most OPC demonstrators will have the extended leather because that looks the best on a £60k car. Think how much it's going to cost you changing your car and then you will see that a bit more leather is not that expensive.

Surround View gives you a complete view of the car surrounds (as the name implies). The dipping mirror only helps with the nearside rear. My drive is curved and I always have to reverse out. I have to avoid the low wooden wall in my neighbours garden and SV enables me to see exactly where the front of the car is. Parallel parking in confined spaces can mean your front wheel alloys are at risk of kerbing as well as the rear, SV reduces the risk.

Forum members who have 2L cars say that power steering plus is unnecessary and on that car they're probable right. With the 2.9L engine it can help. Don't forget, the additional assistance fades away fairly rapidly as you pick up speed so choosing this option does not compromise the handling of the car.

I wouldn't spec Sports Chrono on an S and probably wouldn't spec it again on a GTS if I decided to replace mine (which is not likely).

Surround-view also gives you panorama front and rear views which can be useful pulling out of junctions or in car parks where a van or other SUV has parked alongside you blocking your exit view.

I am pro Sports Chrono on all models because of the greater ease and choice on mode switching

I wish I had gone for the aluminium trim rather than the standard piano black.

Power steering plus I only notice at very low speeds and I like it.

Seats are always a personal choice as we are all different shapes, therefore try all the options before order locked

You can also link Surround View to the diamond button on the steering wheel to turn it on in the circumstances described by pmg.

You will spend many happy hours playing and whatever your final spec is will be the right one.
Wow!!! Nice to hear someone is there with me for Night Blue. :D

Jon A wrote: Fri Dec 31, 2021 8:56 pm Lovely spec and night blue has become my second favourite colour after seeing one in the metal a few weeks back. Spare wheel does come with air compressor.
Not sure if BOSE is £850 better than standard but that’s a personal choice and one you can investigate over the next few weeks.
Good spec 👍
Thanks Jon. I've asked for a test. will update on that.

Paul1970 wrote: Fri Dec 31, 2021 9:33 pm Very nice spec. I think you should think seriously about surround view rather than just reverse cam though. The cars are wide and those alloys are so easy to scrape. Ask to try cars out with both options and you’ll see the difference. Being able to see the kerbside has saved me from a few costly scrapes.
Thanks Paul. I've included Surround View and Black/Mojave beige two-tone extended leather interior now. £3k more now. :D :D

Col Lamb wrote: Fri Dec 31, 2021 10:41 pm Great spec

My first Macan had RevCam

My current Macan has Surround Cam, which is well worth the extra cash. Do test drive a Macan with Sur Cam to check it out thoroughly.

Speed limit indicator and lane change assist are of questionable value
Thank you Col. I've added Surround cam :)

MikeM wrote: Sat Jan 01, 2022 12:47 pm I think that you have a sensible spec here. I like the combination, although would add the Mojave beige sear belts but depends on how messy your lads are 😳. Personally don’t think the BOSE is worth it, had it in 3 previous, went for standard with current and really happy with it. Also as some have said, reverse camera Yes, surround view, why? You’ve not got 21” wheels and as long as your able to use mirrors, same for lane keep assist, would ditch both. I do use the speed limit indicator and have it full size on the side screen, as you can often drive into typically a 40/30 or 20 section of road without realising and that’s exactly where your friendly local mobile camera enforcement will be sat. Does also help to have a dash cam with speed camera audible warning, but not at Porsche prices. Think I just saved you some cash 👍
thank you Mike. Heart says, go for Bose as I've been listening to music on a Bose Home speaker, Headphones, ear phones. still, I've requested for a test to compare between the standard and the Bose. will update. Have gone for surround view and extended leather. Options gone up by 3k now Mike. ;)

BanZ wrote: Sat Jan 01, 2022 2:59 pm I’d test the standard sound system if I were you as ive been underwhelmed with Bose since my gen3 S arrived. If you do a lot of trips with kids sleeping I’d also consider the air suspension but I appreciate it’s another £1k. If you do order it I’d love to see pics as night blue/Mojave interior hasn’t been selected by many of here but I always think they look good on the configurator!
Sure Banz , will update the photos when it arrives sometime in April, 2022.

Got an update that mine is March build and April delivery. Yet to get the confirmation if my options are locked or not yet.

Any thoughts about
1. Porsche Tracking system
2. PPF
3. Does SE come up with any packages or offers at the time of delivery?
