Hello Friends :)

My new year's resolution is to fulfil my boyhood dream and own a Porsche! I'm looking at 2015 diesel Macans cos it needs to be a family friendly car.

There seem to be quite a few around with mileage between 70-120k for high teens / low twenties prices.

In your experience what should I be looking for and looking out for in a car of this type?
Any must have features, strange noises, or significant missed services to be aware of and help me avoid my dream turning into a nightmare...

Looking through the forums it sounds like a rear camera is a must, and to look for juddering when pulling away (transfer box issues?)

Thanks in advance!

To ensure your dream does not end up as a nightmare. Only buy one with Porsche extended warranty. You will pay more but if you are on a constrained budget you don't want to end up with a multi £k repair bill.

Welcome.

Do lookup the threads.

A recent one was exactly the same as yours and I said do not buy a 2015 so I am not going to repeat what you can find by a simple search.

I will say go for a 2016 with updated PCM and more features as standard.

Welcome to the forum!

If you want one with a Porsche extended warranty, you'll be looking at £32-36K.

Most people will advise you only to buy with a Porsche extended warranty; but I'm not so sure. The extended warranty locks you in to using OPCs for service/repairs, so you'll be paying around double what a decent indie would charge. The warranty doesn't cover wear-and-tear components, which are the most likely expenses you'll face. At 8 years old, any inherent product faults (transfer box, timing cover bolts, pano roof, etc) should have already been sorted. And catastrophic engine failure is very rare! Most independent Porsche specialists also offer used cars - usually cars which they've looked after and know well. I reckon this route might get you into a Macan at a sensibly lower price.

Welcome and congrats!

Is it a petrol S or did you stick with your plan to buy a diesel (SD)?

Bought through a Porsche Centre?

Remember to share pics when you get it! :)
