0% on purchase credit cards is useful if you have a wait time. Its easy to "save" 2-3K per month.

I have pot of 24K after saving for a year :-).

That's quite funny; for the majority of the population saving £2-3k per month is a dream they will never realise and many are lucky to save £2-3k per year.

I don't understand how you are saving 2-3K per month. Surely you are
accumulating a debt for which you are not paying interest but which will
be repayable at the end of the 0% term?

If you would normally
pay off your credit card debt then I can see that the repayments that
you would have made are "saved" but eventually they have to finance the
debt. Unless you do a runner LOL

I am guessing that Adrian 'saves' or transfers £2k to £3k per month from current account (presumably from income) into a form of savings account, although probably only earning about 0.95% interest at present...

For those that used Clydesdale, how far in advance of draw down would you recommend contacting them? My car should be ready for collection and therefore financing at end Feb

I contacted them about 3 months in advance just to ensure I would be accepted but the meat and bones of the application, which was done over the phone, took place about 2 weeks before the money was transferred.

I was surprised at how informal the process was given the amount of money involved. Compare this to the 3 months it took to remortgage £36K with a lender I'd been with for 15 years !!Bazza062017-01-17 18:50:22

I believe that once it's approved it holds for 90 days. Mine was approved about 4 weeks prior to delivery once I knew car was here Ryan contacted the SE and all was sorted ready for me to pick up.

I'd ring them they are very helpful.

Not sure if you have planned a route yet from Leipzig.

If you have not decided can I suggest that you have a look at a map of the Harz region.

I toured there a few years ogo on my motorcycle, great roads, friendly locals.

I can advise further if you wish.

My collection is due on 1st March ( to get the 17 plate ). I got my finance approved yesterday by Ryan. He said the approval lasts for 99 days I think. He can hold the rate for a month, so it might increase before 1st March. If the rate drops before 1st March, Ryan will switch me to the lower rate.

He'll contact me mid-Feb and request the invoice from the OPC at that stage.

I got 4.3% as only borrowing just over £28k or about 33% of the value. Larger advances can be at 4.2% APR.

I'd contact them now. Wing Commander2017-01-17 19:06:51
