The motor looks OK with the extras that make the Macan much better than the rock bottom basic car.

For info, PASM, Xenons, upgraded seats, and larger wheels were/are the extras of choice to many with Pano, privacy glass, satnav p, connect/connect+ amongst the other popular inclusions.

Yeah, this one seems to cover the basics in terms of options I wanted (I'm not too sure what's provided with the Connect+ yet).

This is a 64 plate being offered at 40K. I don't really want to be throwing money at getting more options as they'll only be worthless come trade in, and a newer car would burn a bit more in terms of depreciation.

The car isn't at my local OPC, so it'll have to be delivered (I assume that's a free service through Porsche Approved), and I won't be able to give it a poke before putting a deposit down on it.

Hopefully, the handover will be a lot better than Land Rovers (where I've usually returned the car after a week with a list of things to fix).

I've not told my other half yet, just hope she's in a good mood. I think I'll have to visit Hotel Chocolat before going home.

Of course, if Mr Cyldesdate says no, I'll just have to shrug it off and stick with the Evoque a while longer.

I think that a maps update for PCM costs around £300 at the dealers if the car does not have on line services, where you can update them over the "air" with a SIM card.

Good luck! :-)

Went into the local OPC for a chat about things. The Rhodium is apparently is located "a different group" and might not be accessible via my OPC (and I don't really have time to travel 3 hours there and back to kick its tires).

They did show me a Jet Black on air and 18s, which looked ok but with a few exterior scratches and a fairly obvious dink in the passenger door. They took my car in for an inspection and valuation where I've learnt that Land Rover has screwed me over in painting the whole right hand side of the car (and not doing it terribly well). I'm just waiting on what they think mine is worth. And I'm still waiting on the loan approval.

Tense times.

I did break the news to my other half. "I've been having such a lovely day and you've spoilt it - I love that Evoque". She does like the look of the Macan though, and appreciates that Land Rover never do anything right.

So, I put down a deposit on a Macan today.

Spoke with my SE about the trade-in value of my Evoque and it wasn't good news (despite being stacked with extras). A bodged repair by Land Rover was picked up in the inspection and immediately dropped my expected value down by £5K.

The only economical solution is to simply walk away from the balloon payment that's outstanding on it and take what money I've saved up so far on buying the Macan and financing the rest. Clydesdale has annoyed me somewhat by not coming back with a response after the promised 2 working days. I might well abandon that at go with financing through Porsche, who said they could offer a competing quote (and obviously at a known amount).

I don't know what the Land Rover buyout amount is yet, but I don't think it's a huge amount (probably not worth waiting until November for it to fully expire). I get to find out when I come back from holiday in two weeks time.

It's going to feel strange driving my Evoque to the car auction and just leaving it there.

So, this is what I'm going for.

Re the landrover finance settlement, you can get the settlement figure by a simple phone call. You'll get a bit of discount now but will still need to reckon on the balloon plus 5 more payments less about half the interest.
Worth touting the Evoque around a bit for a cash- buy figure from " specialist" / top end dealerships; they may not spot the repair.......!
Also, it's worth persevering with alternative finance houses as the flat rate will be a good couple of points under Porsche (providing you stack up) and can show significant monthly savings.
Good luck!

Hi All

First time on here. Took delivery of Macan DS a couple of weeks ago. So far so good apart from an annoying "clunk" coming from the from passenger side/wheel/suspension at low speed over an uneven surface. Will give it a few hundred miles then if its still occurring i will get it checked out.

Hi Paul. I was on the phone to Black Horse on Friday and asked them about the early termination amount and they wouldn't/couldn't tell me - I asked them twice and got a flat refusal twice and I was told to "do the maths". I'll get a form with the actual amount in about a week's time (while I'm on holiday).

I've still not heard from Clydesdale - when I called to chase up, they simply said "we're waiting for the underwriters decision". In the meantime, Porsche has said that they'd try to match or compete with that quote.

To be honest, I don't have the time to tout the old car around other places. The Porsche SE seems like a good bloke and has given me a pretty sensible steer on things.

Have booked a test drive for Monday.

Dissapointing about the settlement figure - normally very straightforward......

Yes, the settlement figure is easy, you can get a robot to tell you that within 15 seconds of dialling the number.

It's a different situation when you want to terminate the agreement without paying the balloon payment at the end and simply hand the car back, which is the more economical situation for me in this case where the value of the car is less than the balloon payment.
