Oddly enough, my back trouble is exacerbated by a floaty ride... something to do with the muscles trying to compensate for the movement causing strain. If I'm strapped into something immobile, it's fine. That's probably why they use rigid back boards in ambulances.

One more suggestion but this is only going to cost time and fuel.

Whatever you decide on seats, suspension and wheel size do try to have a longish test drive of any Macan with your chosen combo.

Does not matter if its a second user Macan its the comfort and ride that is the main area to verify.

My other half has experienced multiple back fractures in the past year, so 18-way sports seats had to go in place of the 14-way comfort ones. Also we chose the air suspension after a drive in one of each.
Welcome to the forum.

Did you try the 18-way seats before deciding on the 14-way? My reason for asking is that the seat back side bolster adjustment on the 18-way might help your other half find a setting that maximises her comfort.

I agree with all those who recommend PS+: it makes manoeuvring at parking speeds a doddle.

Welcome Mr Oldpilot
I agree with above comments , PS+ is a MUST have (and not only for old pilots ;) ), I would remove the keyless entry for security reasons and I will seriously consider a GTS for that price range. Oh and do not forget the spare wheel :D
but what ever you will spec it will be a great Macan.

Your spec looks good. I have the pebble/agate interior also and it's wonderful. Agree with the comments about PS+ and considering a GTS given that you've specced the sports design kit etc.

Ride comfort on the Macan is terrific and we found even 21s on steel PASM to be hugely better than our BMW if a little choppy on broken surfaces. I concur with the view above that with air you can pretty much choose any wheel. We went with 20" for a touch more comfort on steel PASM and because I didn't want to spend more than 10k on options knowing that I would be writing that all off the moment I drove the car out of the showroom.

My personal view is that £17k is too much to spend on options on an S because it puts you right into nicely specced GTS territory or even a turbo. But if you're planning on keeping the car a long time and can afford it then go for it and enjoy!

I spent £17k on options on my SD. £14k on initial order following input/encouragement from here (!) and another £2.5k retrofit on sports exhaust. It has definitely made the car a nicer place to be and if you're keeping long term as posted above, well worth it.

If though you'll be tempted to switch into something else earlier, keeping options minimal is good advice. I've thought about switching into a GTS and 911, but likely loss on my car is hard to swallow. I will probably just keep mine and buy something alongside, perhaps swapping my wife's car for it.

I'd stick to 19" or 20". If you get 18" rims, you'll have difficulty getting your wheel woolly between the rim and the caliper when cleaning the wheels!

Thanks for all the comments and advice. We did ponder the GTS, but it's a different sort of car and my boy-racer days are over!! We finally locked down the spec on 26th June and this is what we ended up with http://www.porsche-code.com/PJLHM3Q8. Build date is 4th August, so guess we'll take delivery with the new reg in Sept.

Porsche experience day is 25th July pm. Anyone else going?

We have Air, 20s and the 18-ways. Mrs D has a very poorly back but finds the combination just fine with the adjustable bolsters helping to control lateral movement. There's never been any mention of them being too firm either. We've just completed a 2k France/Spain road trip and she managed brilliantly.
