On 10 - 14 K miles per annum the diesel will be absolutely fine dpf-wise.

My SD almost 1 year old now. No DPF issues fortunately despite many short city drives. I like the way it drives, but I pretty much drive mine in Sport mode 99% of the time, hence my average mpg is only about 32.
Would I buy a diesel Macan now? Probably not. Not really to do with the dieselgate issues or DPF concerns, just because my mileage is low, petrol leadtimes are shorter now than when I ordered and they sound better.
The facelift wouldn’t stop me buying though. When I was ordering mine (Apr 16), many folks were worrying about it then and that would have been a year spent not enjoying the car. Pics of changes look very subtle anyway other than the rear lights.

But what if they replace the switchgear and put in a bigger display???

To be honest, I’m pretty happy with the cabin as it is. I know many criticise the buttons and tech, but it does everything I want and need it to.

I wonder if a major overhaul of the interior/dashboard will be reserved for the all new Macan in 2021/22?

Welcome to the forum, Roy and Mike!
I think you'll be doing remarkably well if you get any discount on a new Porsche. Best of luck! There may be more leeway if you take their finance, but the APR is high, so that would negate any modest 'discount'. But at least Porsche's pricing strategy helps to protect residuals.
On a separate point, the Panamera SD had a 4.0 V8 rather than the 3.0 V6 found in the Macan SD.

I stopped smoking ( no pun intended ) 5 years ago ,and found it harder not to order the SD. In the cold light of day I still have the finances available to buy one , but cold turkey is no fun nor is seeing Macans drive past
Macan GTS.Vol/ grey turbo 21s, Bose, Panroof, heated seats and steering wheel, 18 way , red belts, LEDs, light comf mem, privacy , compass, 18 spare wheel, aluminium inserts, auto dim mirrors, smoked,r/rails,p/assi. CAYMAN GTS now
Welcome Mike & Roy.
If you can get £1k knocked off a Macan let me know which OPC and I'll change my 911 order to buy from them (i'm currently waiting for a build slot), I have been to 5 OPC's and not a hope of any discount. I think Mrs Spook has talked our SE to offering an Umbrella with our next purchase
Paid cash for two Porsches over the years not a wiff of discount on either.
However as Wing Commander has put residuals are quite good. I did get 92.8% return on my 16 month old Petrol S (price plus options) when I sold it a couple of weeks ago (back to my OPC) and it's still for sale at £500 over my plus options price.
With £60K to buy a Macan I'd go for the GTS mysen.

92.8% after 16 months is stunning. Granite-like residuals like that are worth far more than a meagre discount or some 'free' mats etc.
I too would opt for a GTS if budgeting £60k or so on a new Macan.
Many consider the GTS to be the sweet spot in the range, be it a Macan, 911, Cayman, Cayenne or Panamera...

Welcome
I am not a huge diesel "fan" and don't do a huge mileage but I really can't fault the engine. As fast as you will ever require and still 40 mpg. What's not to like. I believe I am on the latest software update. Heading towards 20,000 miles and engine just getting better.
No one can tell about depreciation. Since "they" are planning on banning both petrol and diesel engines it could go either way.
