I went a bit crackers on the spec, but I wanted her to be as sporty as possible; whilst as safe and luxurious for the other-half to enjoy (and me!).

As promised, please find pics.

BTW, I've come to the Macan from a string of Porsche sports cars (inc. 3 x 911) - it really is THAT good. The "closest-to" Porsche that I could say my Macan 'feels and sounds' like is a previously owned 928 GT!

I hope to meet everyone at the next Macan get-together - distance and other-half (!) permitting.

I have to say I love that blue.. your car looks stunning, such a fantastic options list. If you don't mind, I will pinch the black Porsche writing idea from you to put onto my Turbo that I purchased today.

One more question. I too am coming from a 911 (991.1) and to be honest am a little worried I will miss the excitement of the 911. How are you finding day to day driving? Does the Macan Turbo give you a buzz?
My Porsche history
944 (sold)
911 (992.1 - sold)
Macan Turbo (sold)
Panamera turbo S E Hybrid (sold)
Cayenne sport (the bosses)
Taycan Turbo loving it.

I've had both Macans and 911s. What I will say is that the Macan is the best driving SUV in the world but and there is a but - it is no Sports Car and will not make up for not having a 911. The Macan is a still a high riding SUV and you can't defy physics.

My advice would be keep the 911 and find an additional daily driver. If that is a Macan then you have the perfect garage - Macan + 911! If you have to have one Porsche only then my view is keep the 911. You will certainly miss it regardless of how good the Macan is.

I think Arif hits the nail on the head here. The Macan is a brilliant car but it isn’t a sports car and you definitely won’t get anything like the thrills out of it that you do with a 911

I'd definitely agree with the last two comments - it does handle very well for a SUV, but it's no sports car (I'm coming from 991.1 C2S and Cayman GTS) ...
It's more like a sports-saloon (think BMW M3/5).

However, the Turbo PP would simply leave either Porsche 'for dead' in a straight line. Also, at the recent Porsche Exp. Silverstone, I had no problem keeping up with most 991.2 C2S/GT3RS (and Cayman GT4) drivers on the track - and this was in a standard Turbo: to be fair I do know the track very well!

I'm completely converted to the Macan and LOVE it to bits! I'd certainly not swap it for another Porsche...

Have to say initially my thoughts on the colour were 50/50 but having seen your pictures its brilliant, love the colour combination, speaking to my OPC the other day and they were commenting how good the dark blue looks on the Macan

SCTOLCHARD wrote: Tue Jan 02, 2018 1:44 pm Hi Sidscott,

On the GTS I would consider leaving it "as is" , unless you go for the full GTS interior/leather pack (*). I would not put this interior in a GTS (despite it looking great!) as A. -I- don't think it'd be sporty enough, and B. ('cus of point A.) it may hit your pocket come selling/trade-in time...

When I traded in my Cayman GTS (FULL Agate-grey extended-leather with contrast stitching NOT the GTS interior/leather pack) I'm sure I saw a bit less due to the interior (and the Salesman said GTS buyers are expecting the Alcantara or full GTS interior Pack). The main reason I chose leather in that car is that I wanted the ventilated seats - this is not possible with the Alcantara seat "squabs" ... I'm sure this is the case with the Macan as I specced this feature (*).

Regarding the part leather (the non-leather parts being: lower half of Dash, Centre console and Door-cards), I'm fine with it - there's only a slight mismatch due to the top of dash's "contrast" stitched-leather and the top of the door card (being non-leather & no stitching). I'm ok with this and everybody else that's been in and seen the car (including Porsche Club members) absolutely love it and no-one's commented on the slight mismatch of material. I had to draw the line somewhere TBH ;) the rest of the non-leather dash and centre console look great - you'd not really spot they were non-leather: really nice.

Hope I didn't confuse you !!!

Cheers, Simon.
Have to agree about the interior, I've had various interiors now, full leather, partial leather, 18 / 14 way seats, on the GTS I am leaving the 8 way sports seats partial leather as I feel it is tailored to the GTS,

Only one thing I would change is the colour coded wheel badges. They really finish off a car for me.

I've always gone col.-coded wheel badges up to now but I think it'd simply "clash" a bit due to the yellow wheel calipers - just a personal preference ;)

Also, with the Black Macan/Turbo 'boot' badging, and the matt-black window trims/tinted-windows, the monochrome wheel-badges complete the picture of my "personal ideal".
