Hi All,

Totally new to the forum. Been looking at a Macan for 18 months now to replace an A6 Allroad. Found out yesterday my local dealer has a build slot for February with March delivery, so finally put down an actual deposit! Disadvantage is that I've got 5 days to lock down a spec....

Requirements:
Towing - regularly a 1800kg powerboat, so air suspension and PTV (for the locking rear diff on muddy slipways).
Going to get driven on lots of fairly bad country roads.
Not really interested on spending money on interior looks or trim upgrades.

I notice in the time I've been looking the spare wheel option seems to have gone from the config options - is it now standard or just not available?

Current code: PJ2JQMP5

Any comments very welcome.

Hi and welcome,

Great looking spec.. I think the Macan would be a great machine for towing although I haven't tried it myself.

I would double check the spare wheel with your dealer as I believe it is expensive to add later. Presume you don't want Bose??

The sound upgrade says it removes some load-space under the boot floor, which is already less than on the A6, which is full...

I have Bose and the spare wheel which are both under the boot floor. The Bose unit (amplifier??) is not that big. I'm sure there are photos on this site - will have a look.

Spare wheel is listed under the wheel section of the configurator.

Good choice on colour 😉😎

I have a spare wheel and Bose, and I tow. I don't think the Bose takes up any usable room if you have the spare wheel - maybe if you don't have the spare wheel then you get more room.

The GTS is the first tow car I've had where my towing economy is pretty much the same as my non-towing economy. Am only towing about 900Kg though.

I don't have PTV so am not that familiar with what it does, if anything, when pulling away from rest. I believe its main purpose is cornering accuracy at speed isn't it? Have you been advised differently, and that the diff can be locked in the way you suggest?

At the Silverstone experience day one of the things I tried was full power starts on the ice hill, with and without traction control on. The difference was dramatic to say the least. I think you should have enough traction control with the standard setup, even on a muddy slipway.
