Hi.. I am currently looking to buy a second hand Macan privately, as I find the OPC mark up a bit eye watering and have seen Macans 4/6k cheaper. Although theses are mainly from independent dealerships and still have Porsche warranty left. I am concerned that if I have a problem ie noise from engine, transfer boxes, or any other little problems , take the Macan to a Opc,will I get the same service.. loan car?, if they can’t diagnose problems will I be charged ? Has anyone bought there car from a specialist dealer? Thanks .

I bought my first Porsche ( a 3 month old Cayman) from a Bentley dealership. When I had a fault with the gearbox a few months later I got the same service from Porsche dealership as I would have had if I had bought new from Porsche. Car picked up by Porsche Assist and a decent loan car provided ( I got a new X5 and a new CLS ) .

Not sure if you're saying you'll be buying within the existing warranty or not. But I bought an June 2016 SD last November from an independent, and have been welcomed by my local OPC (Cambridge) who registered my car and ownership sorting out the Porsche connect+ (which still had 14 months left from the previous owner). It's coming up for its 20K service and loaner had been offered.

Expired Porsche code PJVNAUH5 Rhodium SD Agate & Pebble
I’m sure you would be fully welcomed by your OPC. After all, its service work for them and a potential new car customer of the future.

Given the lack of new car sales over the next few months any OPC will welcome warranty work with open arms and it won't matter where you bought the car from.
The only area where you could have an issue is over non warranty work say for example a minor rattle. If you bought from the OPC they would hopefully feel duty bound to sort the matter, if they haven't sold you the car they may feel it's chargeable to you.

Hi Mike.
Being pedantic, OPC stands for Official Porsche Centre, so there's no such thing as a non-Porsche OPC.
If you buy a used Porsche from an OPC, you'd get at least 2 years warranty.
If you buy one elsewhere, be sure to check out what warranty you'd get. It might just be what's left (if any) of the original Porsche 2 or 3 year warranty.
Cheers,
Simon
P.S. I have noticed that some non-Porsche dealers actually charge pretty close to OPC prices on certain Porsches.

Hi Mike. Worth checking out exactly how old the Macan is and how much of the warranty is left. New Macans now get 3 years' warranty, but the older ones only had two years, I think.

I am buying a One year old Macan S from forum member Frank and have been through the procedure for transferring the warranty and assistance package. In the Porcshe Warranty/Assistance booklet (with the Owners manual etc in the car) there is a form for both parties to fill in, you can do that on the day and send an email with scan of the form and cover will be transferred there and then. All details in the booklet phone numbers etc.
So next Thursday will be picking up Franks/my Macan S, and will have my Macan for sale, 2 years old 13,000 miles 1 year warranty remaining if anyone is interested.

Congrats on the upgrade, MEO.
May well be worth posting the spec, pics & asking price of your 2.0 on here...
