Out of interest, is your car kept outdoors or indoors? In London, with my car parked on the road at all times, I’d like to think that if a rodent took its chances trying to get on the roof, one of the many roaming foxes would catch it before it even got close to the car!

If it is rodents, that looks like really annoying damage.

What is the car being washed with?

Wonder if something that is making the rubber deteriorate over time?
Can’t tell fully by the picture but it does look like all the rubber has dimples in it and looks like it will also break up.
Just an idea worth looking at.

That last pic is interesting. Is it showing some marking or degradation on the leading edge of the rubber trim? ie Not where the obvious damage is. Does the rubber around the hole seem to have perished or become brittle? I'd have thought rodent damage might appear 'neater' from chewing by small sharp teeth. The jagged edges seem a bit pointed for rodent damage. All guesswork on my part though!

Interesting too that two cars of similar age are exhibiting the same issue.

Does it get parked up outside, for long periods, in direct sunshine in the summer months?

Might be worth a visit to a windscreen company's branch to get their opinion.

Dunno. It looks like damage alright but cant think why any self respecting rodent would chew that. How would they get up there is another thing?

Had no issues with the seal and the car is 4yrs old now. It stands outside so no rodent problems. We have had Rodents in the garage but they didn't touch the roof of my Boxster thankfully although they did nibble through my neoprene waterproof covers for the Macan seats.
Had no problems with the mesh screen sticking but it does creep forward a little from its stow position of its own accord when the car is started and has to be manually returned to its stow position.

My pan roof would not close today. The deflector was not folding for some reason when the roof tried to push it flat. Had to give it a helping hand by pushing deflector with my hand as roof approached. Not sure what was causing it - maybe the hot weather ?

I could not see anything and it folded ok with a gentle push with my hand but when roof tried to push the deflector it obviously felt too much resistance and stopped it going any further.
