Hi all,
Been following this forum since last August when i placed my order for a GTS. Thanks all for some great advice. This is my first foray into the world of Porsche, although seems like a great progression from a Golf GTD which has given me some good times over the last few years.
I took delivery on Saturday which was touch and go given the weather. I went from depression (thinking i wasn't going to get to the dealer) to elation when the weather suddenly improved. So took delivery on Saturday with all the family and went through the whole unveiling process which was a nice introduction. Car was filthy by the time I got home thanks to the grit and slush.
First impressions are how unbelievably smooth and quiet it is, until you put your foot down of course and hear the roar . I'm in love.
This week the car has been getting a dose of PPF to the doors and bumpers and Crystal Serum Ultra elsewhere including the wheels.
Just taken delivery of a GTS

A couple of pictures following the detailing. It was sparkling enough before hand, but it’s proper gleaming now. I’m discovering a whole new world I didn’t know existed!

Wife thought I was crazy buying a 60k car. When she found out I was spending another £2k on a makeover she was, shall we say, really unimpressed! However I have reliably informed her that it will help maintain the value of the car, especially given how London driving and parking leaves you so susceptible to scrapes. Anyway, I guess we’ll see whether it does what it says on the tin. It really is a whole new world for me.Wing Commander wrote:+1. These professional detailers are highly skilled folk. To be honest, I am not expecting detailing to be reflected in the value of my Porsche when I sell it/trade it in, but I'm planning on Gtechniq on the bodywork and wheels, so more looking for my detailer to correct any minor paint blemishes and to make the car easier to keep clean.
The PPF wrap may protect from some stone chips etc, but there's no guarantee that the cost of PPF will be less than the cost of having minor chips corrected.
I had some money knocked off my Panamera trade in value, as the OPC will need to respray the bonnet and front bumper due to stone chips (but this is after covering over 16k miles). Had I paid to PPF the bonnet and front of car, I think that would have cost more than what's been knocked off my trade in value. And there's no guarantee that PPF would have prevented all the chips anyway. You pays your money...
