Hello all

First post so please excuse an errors

Had several models from Porsche Glasgow over the years and can’t fault there sales guys, however the service dept are at the other end of the scale, over the years I have paid them top dollar and been let down numerous times so finally decided enough is enough and want my car serviced elsewhere.

My Macan S is due it’s first service and looking for a competent specialist around the central Scotland area.

Any thoughts in what doing this may or may not impact on my resale value by not using Porsche ?

The first (I’m guessing) 20K service is £430 whichever Porsche centre you choose.
If it was me, and assuming you’re keeping the car and value your ongoing warranty, then hunting round to save (maybe) £100 isn’t really worth it. There must be other Porsche dealerships in Scotland / North UK close enough to make it a good drive and day out.....?

Welcome.

Your Macan needs to be serviced by an OPC to maintain the warranty.

If you are not bothered about that then the members of Porsche Club GB will probably use an Independent, they may be able to help.

Failing that drive south to Kendal and Parker and Parker a small family owned OPC.

In theory, the car doesn’t have to be serviced by an OPC to maintain the warranty, simply by an authorised repairer - this is exactly what Block Exemption set out to achieve.

That said, there will be many buyers who will only look for an OPC stamp in the booklet. Authorised repairers have to have the same quality equipment, parts and technicians though, so it shouldn’t really make any difference. I would still probably try and find a good OPC personally.

As above having service by an OPC is not a requirement for warranty but will be important for resale. If you plan to keep the car a long time this will be less important but selling at 2 or 3 years old will see buyers wanting a Porsche stamp in the book. I would look for another local OPC to carry out the work and at least in Scotland you have options, here in Northern Ireland we have one dealer so the choice is take it or leave it lol.

This place is in Stirling. I've never used him but know people who have and have heard only good things about him.

If it was on a lease then i could use service stop for £170, they locate a local garage who use genuine parts and the fact that you are not trading it in means it does not matter. This is what I paid for an Fpace and Q5 both on a business lease

In Scotland both dealerships are owned by Sytner so either way they get my money.

I am reluctant to use a non OPC because we would all prefer a dealer stamp, I plan to sell the car privately as I always do before its 3yrs old so it looks like Edinburgh for me.

To give an idea how bad glasgow porsche are, I had rust on my boxster hubs after a few 100 miles, they inspected the car and said it was caused by an outside influence, yes I replied its called rain and where does it say in the manual only to use in the dry weather. Anyway after going back n forth and getting nowhere I got a dekra report which stated "poor quality or lack of coating" was the problem. now you would think the dealer would have to act ! No they said the report was wrong, I said do you want to get your own report ? No we are satisfied our decision is correct. Arrogant b**stards or what.

I could give several other stories but you kind get the idea why I dont want to give them money

Totally understand why you wouldn’t want to use that dealer, sounds despicable service.

I assume you know glasgow and edinburgh are both the same company.

I have used both glasgow and edinburgh on my 911 and Macan - glasgow wins hands down

I detest glasgow sales force, I was surprised to find as standard the macan has vinyl seats - they tried to tell me as its a sports car, they use vinyl as its lighter - seriously!!!!

Have you noticed Perth have opened recently? I bought from Glasgow last month and agree, sales are great...I'm likely to take mine to Perth for servicing though, as it's only 20 miles from me, unlike Glasgow's 50 - I wont use Edinburgh as the sales people there are very dismissive of me - apparently being 35 doesn't put me in their demographic...

other than that, I used to get my RS/S audi's serviced at Star Performance in Dysart (just outside Kirkcaldy). fair price, and good work - plus the guy runs and RS as his personal car...

let us know how you get on...
