Probably. I wasn’t point scoring. Just comparing. I’ve been wondering if the missus would notice if I bought a GTS and said it was an Oil Burner.

After she's just filled it up with diesel?

I’m not that daft. She doesn’t drive.

I sold my SD in April and due to the limited information at the time about the face lift availability for the GTS I decided to order an Audi S5.

According to the Audi website my car was due to start its build on the 9th July. Over a month later and with no further update I spoke with the dealer who said that they could not start building any further cars until current stock had been sold. Current stock cannot be registered after 1st September from which all cars must be WLTP approved.

The dealer could offer no insight as to when my order will commence or my car delivered.

Whilst this may not directly answer the OP’s question it does indicate that the dealers have no idea what’s going on.

As an “ex dealer” I can confirm this is often the case ☹️

WLTP is screwing up factory build orders. We ordered a SEAT Leon 1.8i FR on 23rd May. Even at that stage my dealer was unable to quote a delivery date - "possibly late Sep / early October". Despite assurances of keeping us posted, we've heard no more.

Recently through my web searches its transpires that there will be no more 1.8i engines [184bhp], it will now be a 2.0i [190 bhp] for the 2019 model year to meet WLTP. For which read fewer engine options within the VAG group and a reduction in like for like power output. There are also some other spec etc changes and the inevitable list price increase. So I contacted my SEAT dealer last week by email. They rang back saying that yes this was correct, but assured me that the deal price for the new car and our guaranteed p/ex price would be honoured. The new car will be built w/c 3rd Sept and then 4-6 weeks before it arrives at the dealer. So presumably a 1st Nov registration. So 5 months from order to delivery. Note they telephoned back and did not reply in writing to my email; so i am now seeking written confirmation on all of this.

That's interesting. Each time I have emailed my dealer they always phone rather than answer my questions in writing.
