A thought on residuals. As there’s likely to be many more petrol S cars sold of the upgrade than the original, will they hold their value quite so much?
Yes my dealer suggests we’ll be well into December before the S appears... I’m not changing for at least six months so the S should be well available late next year!

OPC prices for the biggest selling SD have always been strong so I assume the S will hold value too...

Wow 73.5% is good, was that a trade in with an OPC?

Traded in my SD at Porsche Cambridge who offered me more than other OPCs. The key is not to go too silly on options and be prepared to spend time trying different dealers. If you have a very lowly optioned car don’t discount Webuyanycar. The car I traded in did not even have PCM Nav but did have metallic, 20” Spyders, pan roof, sports leather heated seats. The car was put on market at £43,000 and sold within 2 weeks.

I too got very fairly treated by Cambridge when I traded in my 2017 Panamera 4 and bought my current car. :geek:

Some forum members were a little aghast when I bought my previous cars without Nav and PASM but I sold both my cars without any issue and I don’t think I would have got a penny more had the cars had either or both options. This is my first ever car with Nav seen as it is standard fit nowadays . Must admit I do find the live traffic useful.

Why can't people just be happy that you have purchased a lovely Porsche regardless of the engine size?

Porsche for me is all about the drive not just the straight line speed. I have driven some of the most prestigious and fastest cars in the world and in the real world, speed is the last thing I worry about. My F-type is not the fastest car on the planet but it's awesome to drive.

Well said !

Enjoy the motor + hope not too long to wait for it.

If the engines for the new model Macans are VW/AUDI sourced and not Porsche designed and built then possibly to get a genuine PORSCHE engined model we have to go 911 or the 4 pot Boxer/Cayman variants.

Ladies and gents, welcome to the XXI century automotive industry.

The most expensive part of the modern car is a 'platform' or more specifically a floor-pan. That is why it's shared with Audi Q5, VW, Skoda and Seat. Do we care? We should and I am happy that VAG spent millions on R&D and amortise the cost across the full range.

Engine is probably the second most expensive component and Audi makes good engines, but I suspect that it has Porsche parts on it, with its own fuel mapping, ignition timing, valve timing... and a plastic covers with a horse!

Porsche engineering team bolted to it many bespoke and some shared components. Eg. new SatNav (VAG swarm) system is much more effective then old one. The Swarm checks the traffic conditions of all VW, Audi , Skoda, Seat and Porsche's on the road and recommends the best route. Arguably, the Swarm is more valuable than bespoke Porsche navigation.

This is how premium cars become more affordable and more valuable.

We should accept that we are driving Porsche modified Audi Q5 and we are getting Porsche performance and styling, and Audi reliability at decent price. I am delighted with the outcome.
