Hi all

First time post here so please take it easy lol

I’m going to test drive a 2014 S diesel here in Spain this week, it’s an import with 150k kms. As I’ve never driven one before, I wondered if any of you could give me some pointers as to what to look out for problem wise, any known issues, must have options etc.
It’s a 4hr drive there and back to see it so any help in
advance would be greatly appreciated !

TIA

2014 will be one of the very first!
Unsure of Spanish spec so can only comment on what UK cars did (or didn’t have back then)
“Must -haves” are always very subjective but you’ll be bombarded on here with big wheels, sunroof, PASM, leather interior, 18 way seats, xenon headlights, reversing camera etc etc (not forgeting the smoker pack😂)
150k kms is way more than anyone on here will have experienced so you’re really looking at the usual areas of uneven tyre wear, disc corrosion, underbody damage and so on as with any other used car.
There is a good test for the transfer box; put the car in off road mode and reverse quite hard on full lock. Any banging or knocking will suggest the ‘box needs replacing - a commonish fault.
Good luck!

I echo the comments above about the transfer box - they seem to fail at about the 2 1/2 year point, and out of warranty replacement cost will be around €4000.

Worth checking several times that everything works properly: PASM, Air Suspension if fitted (try height adjustments), lights, sunroof, aircon (may need charging) - any of these things will be expensive to fix of course. Read the manual or Porsche 'Good to Know' app to work out how to use everything before the test drive, and take along a check list.

At that mileage it will have had the tyres replaced at least once - check that the fitted ones are Porsche-approved 'N0' rated.

Check the car's service messages. You access these via the right hand screen in the dash and steering wheel buttons. It should show mileage and time to next oil change, minor and major service so you can cross check with the written service record.

Other than that, check all the usual 2nd hand car stuff! It will be good to hear back any problems discovered on a car of that mileage - most on this forum would have changed their Porsche several times over that distance travelled!

Thanks for the replies and advice. Today I received the chassis number and stuck it in Google. An ad for AutoScout24 came up and there was the car previously for sale in Italy. That’s not a problem as I knew it was imported, but the kms advertised was 179,000 ! And when I zoomed in on the dash, they read 181,000kms...I sent it to the dealer and he had no idea why the kms were higher, he said they were 151,000 but it was enough for me to cancel the trip. A shame, but I’ll keep looking as I love the look of the car.

Cheers

The car has obviously been “clocked” . Whether it was 150000km or 180000km it was still high mileage for a 4 year old Porsche.

I knew that is the fate for most Mercedes E classes and Frankfurt airport used to use Cayennes for the luxury chauffeur service but didn't expect to see such a sad ending for a Macan.
