Hi all,
I've been lurking and reading your posts for a while but thought I'd bite the bullet and join up!
Soooo about me ....
I've inherited my dad's love of cars, he started with a Spitfire, then had a Lotus, numerous family saloons (yawn) but when us kids flew the nest he rekindled his passion and had a 944 for a few years, followed by a Boxster, his last car. Sadly he passed away 7 years ago now, but that passion was passed down to me. I started saving in 2000, my little ISA was jokingly referred to as my 'Porsche' fund and now nearly 19 years later I am close to buying myself a brand new Porsche.
In a perfect world I'd have 2 Porsche's, one for driving for fun (probably a 911 Targa) and a bigger family type car for when I want to throw my mountain bike on the back and hit the Peaks.
Sadly my budget won't stretch that far, so I have decided that I will go for a lovely shiny brand new Macan, I know you want to know the specifics!!
Build code is here: (likely to change!) http://www.porsche-code.com/PKX5X7Q4
Options to include:
Volcano Grey
19" Wheels with colour centres
Model Designation deletion
Sports Tailpipes in Black
Electric Towbar
Pano Roof
Auto Dimming Mirrors
Park Assist (front and surround cameras)
18 way adjustable Sports Seats
Seat Heating Front and Rear
Heated Multifunction GT Sports Steering Wheel
I was going to go for the 20" Macan Turbo wheels but after reading up and as most of my driving is around town I think I'd be better off (comfort and financially!) going for the 19", although I'm not a huge fan of silver wheels.
I'm hoping to put my order in very soon, I visited the dealer in Nottingham last Saturday and had a really good look around the new model, it is definitely improved in my eyes. I absolutely LOVE that rear end now, it's almost like they knew I'd be buying one this year
So there you go that's me!

Welcome, Sal.
What a lovely back story.
Beware of the addictive Porsche habit! I started with a 2.0 Macan and two years later took delivery of a brand new 911!
That’s a great looking spec.
If you don’t like silver wheels, you could get them re-done in an alternative finish (black or various shades of grey in gloss, matt or satin finish) at a professional wheel specialist for around £400 or so.

Not a bad spec but seat heating front and back not really needed unless you have 4 inside the car frequently, front seat heating only works great for me.
That said I have a heated steering wheel and use it more than the heated seats.
Save cash by omitting the sport tailpipes and the multi function steering wheel and getting PASM which will give a much improved ride comfort.
Spare wheel is very useful rather than a can of gunk.
Interior light pack is very handy as is the smoking pack.
You will find the steering heavy at parking speeds without PS+
Do try a Macan with 14 way seats, 18 way are great but are a very snug fit
The larger fuel tank used to be a free option but it is well worth including.
If you are going to drive quite a lot at night in dark lanes LEDs are well worth the cost.
But the absolute best thing you can do is save up more and by an S, if you are getting a Porsche do buy one with a Porsche engine and not an Audi engine.

Welcome Sal
(ignore Col; unless you’re buying a Turbo with all his “must haves” you’ll never get his approval )
You’ll love the Macan and it is worth taking a good long test drive in a car with as many of the options you are considering.
Good luck!

Beautiful story (Mrs) M
I am also in a queue to get a new Macan, I have driven a few and every time I get to refine my options... if I could just get one already, before I lose faith and revert back to BM (shock .. horror).

I have had all three seats and although I currently have the 14 way comfort seats actually preferred the 18 way sports seats that I had for almost 3 years so approve of your choice of sports seats. The sports tail pipes are an expensive option with no benefit other than looks although do agree they look much better but in reality the money would be better spent elsewhere. In my opinion the heated steering wheel is the best value option going.
Like yourself I’m not a great fan of bright silver wheels. Visually I think the bright silver against the large dark coloured body make the car appear a little unbalanced. Perhaps balance with aluminium window trims and roof rails.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I'm sure my spec will change but I'm enjoying playing with the configurator and Col, I've run the S through a few combinations as well, although I think it's too much car for what I'll be using it for and wasted on me at the mo. Maybe higher performance will come when I'm older and not driving short journeys across a city every day.
Already made a few changes and added the PASM, and I've gone back to the 20" wheels, I can't bear to look at it with those silver options Wing, I did think about what you suggested but adding £400 to change them after market is actually not much cheaper than going for the Turbo ones instead.
Anyway I'll let you know how I get on, hoping to start the ball rolling next week! Fingers crossed!

Sal.
Quite a few here baulk at the term Must Haves but as you probably have found out a Macan without any extras is a very, very basic car and the reality is that out of the hundreds of members that there have been here only a very few have bought a Macan with anything less than £5k of extras so irrespective of what they write they do have their own Must Haves.
You seem to have the bases covered with your actual needs so no further comment on extras from me just more advice.
Do try to have a test drive of a Macan with the same seating, wheel size, suspension and steering system (PS+ included or not) as you intend to specify to be sure you have the combination that suits you.
Also do not be in a hurry to lockdown your spec, it is not needed despite what your sales guy will probably say. Typically lockdown has only been required 6 weeks prior to the actual start of the build.
Once you have placed your deposit an invite to go to Silverstone PEC should be given to you, this is a freebie and is well worth going. It involves a 1/2 day driving a Macan around the tracks and on the skid pans, it will give you the chance to really see what an incredible SUV the Macan is, speak to your Instructor nicely and you may even have chance to take out a 911.
The reason I say not to lockdown the spec is to give you chance to go to the PEC prior to lockdown as there the Instructor will give you excellent impartial advice on the benefits of what you are considering including
PS
The Configurator or Confuserator as it has been reChristened is addictive so be warned as sooner or later the call of configuring a 911 will occur.

Hi Sal,
Aside from the silver wheels your posted spec looks good, the OPC could get the 19" ones painted before you took delivery and you shouldn't need PASM with them, would save you a few ££££ and the black ex pipes you have chosen complement the look so keep them there. Would suggest adding PS Plus for parking ease but never never change to chrome window surrounds against Volcano looks Just imho . It's too easy to add lots more
