mark-yorkshire wrote: Sun Jan 20, 2019 12:42 pm Welcome to the forum Freddy. I’m on my third SD and never had PASM on any of my cars. First two cars were on 20” Spyders and latest on 21” Sports classics. Your car on 19” wheels should be pretty comfy. Have you got a decent warranty as all Macans can potentially have transfer box issues. Don’t forget to post pics of your new motor.
Hi Mark-Yorkshire, thanks for the warm welcome and advice. And I’ll post some pictures up soon 👍

Yes I purchased the Macan with a Porsche Warranty, but it expires September this year.. I was already thinking of purchasing an extended warranty once this one expires. But in all honesty, I think there’s a good chance that I’ve invalidated the warranty already with all my retrofits. So far I’ve done:
- Reversing Camera
- AutoWatch Ghost Immobiliser and
- Screen Mirroring, which imo was the biggest waste of money since the building of the Titanic. I actually asked the company for an Apple Car Play retrofit, as the Porsche Apple Car Play retrofit is for 2017 models onwards... They ordered a unit, then on fitting said that they couldn’t get it to work. Apparently the buttons on the screen were not responding. They even had the audacity at first to say to me that my PCM 3.1 doesn’t have touchscreen!! If I laughed any harder at these guys I would’ve ended up crying - which I almost did after I saw Screen Mirroring as it’s replacement... I then got in touch with NM Automotive the Porsche specialists based in the Channel Islands and spoke directly to Nick Marquis, who sells retrofit equipment for the Macan that has actually been tested, and he has given me some great advice. Like watch where you bring your Porsche in future.. Lol. An expensive lesson to learn, but nevertheless an experience I’m much wiser from. It could’ve been worse.

Tomorrow morning I’m having fitted:
- Apple Car Play unit
- Porsche Smart Module (wing mirrors close on lock, windows close on lock etc)
- Thinkware F-800 Pro dashcam, front and rear
- And currently I’m waiting for the arrival of my CRTD4 Twin Channel Diesel Tuning Box Chip, which I’m hoping will provide a little extra torque, performance and fuel economy. Seeing as though my Macan is now over 3yrs old, I thought it may help and I’ll see a nice difference. It’s plug and play too, so I can remove it at any time unlike a traditional remap. So yes Mark, I think there’s a possibility that the remaining months of my Porsche Warranty are now toast!

Thanks for the heads up about the possible transfer box issue. Have you personally had a Macan suffer from the issue? What sort of cost outside warranty are we talking about?

Thanks Mark, and I’d be interested to read anyones experiences, comments and opinions on anything I’ve mentioned 😊
Hi Freddy. Never had any transfer box issues myself but equally never keep my cars long term. Transfer box issues typically occur on cars over 20,000 miles. A new box is over £3000 fitted. However I do think that your warranty is already invalidated. I assume you are in either Jersey or Guernsey as you mentioned the Channel Islands.

Ahh I see, yes I’ve purchased this Macan model at 3yrs old and it’s already done 40k miles, so hopefully any major issues have already occurred and been dealt with, don’t occur for a long time or don’t occur at all! I’m hoping for the latter as I’m hoping to keep my Macan for at least 3yrs or so.

Yes I think the warranty’s invalidated too. If I had around 2yrs left on it, I probably wouldn’t have done the retrofits. But I’ll look at possibly doing an extended warranty with the AA or another company.

I’m in London Mark, NM Automotive is in the Channel Islands and that’s where I’ve ordered some of my retrofit units from.
