Would like to hear your thoughts re the macan and the GLC coupe. Im looking to buy eather a macan or coupe in the next few months and would appreciate your thoughts on both cars as you have owned both.
Hi Markp1706, the GLC coupe certainly comes with bells and whistles including self parking, birds eye view camera display,, electric steering adjustment, auto dimming rear view and wing mirrors etc. The reversing camera sits behind the rear Merc badge which flips up to let the camera pop out, as it does so the lens is wiped so the view from the camera is always crystal clear unlike most cars on which the camera is permanently out and gets covered in rain and debris and requires regular wiping. I had the 4 cylinder diesel which was great on consumption but not that much fun to drive. When MB redesigned the GLC coupe as a right hand drive they made a mistake with the steering geometry which resulted in amplified Ackermans affect in tight lock maneuvers, search the net for GLC grabbing and read about it also check out the YouTube vids from owners. I got rid of mine after 10mths because MB's only response was to offer a Continental tyre that masked some of the gcrabbing so I didn't want the issue to hit he public domain and devalue my GLC. I believe recently at last MB fully admitted there was an issue and offered redesigned steering components. Needless to say I wouldn't recommend the GLC Coupe over the Macan...

I am intrigued . . . . . name names and if it's anything that gets into four figures I'll cancel my order and re-order.
Most dealers have a stock of facelift 2.0 litre cars that are unregistered and not advertised. Most are specced at around £56,000 to £60,000+. I had no problem whatsoever in being offered £3500 off a £57000 car and by the dealer pre registering it that saves paying the 1sr reg fee of £800+ and just paying the £450 VED. Suggest you ring around dealers to see what they have stocked.
I got my 15mth old with 3000 mile Macan with 2yrs 9mths warranty with road assistance for 46k with £1000 GAP and Wheel/tyre insurance thrown in. This wasn't bad from an OPC for a car spec'd at 60k when new and is recognised for it's slow depreciation.

I think the Macan is recognised as the best handling SUV. The GLC coupe is larger which is evident when driving it. My advice would be to take one for a test drive as we all have different opinions regarding how cars drive. With the diesel GLC/GLC coupe the adblue tank fills the space a spare wheel would sit so you can't configure one with a spare..

During years of mulling over the Macan whilst I dabbled with a Merc GLC Coupe and various forms of the Audi Q5, I purchased first Porsche 2 weeks ago using my 2017 SQ5 as P/Ex for a 2017 2L Macan. I purchased it from Porsche Center Nottingham 35 miles away from where I live. I'm impressed with the car but my first 2 weeks as a Porsche has been have been a little disappointing, it's had to go back twice and currently it's in for warranty replacement of the pan roof seals. I can't fault NPC they picked up my Macan on both occasions leaving me with a loan Porsche, this time it;s a 2018 Cayenne S. I've asked them to check a rattle from under the floor when the Macan starts and when it goes over bumps and there's a gear change thump occasionally between 1st and 2nd gear most often when turning, allegedly it has the Gen 2 transfer box so water ingress shouldn't be an issue as reported by other owners. Hopefully I'll get it back with everything sorted and my Porsche journey will continue with no further issues, fingers crossed.
Welcome to the forum - it's a great community :)

I've been an Audi man for 20+ years having had various iterations of A4 Avants, TT's, an A6 All Road and as I was in the market for an SUV I thought the obvious choice was the Q5 but I was really non-plussed by the shape of the new Q5 (although the interior is top-drawer). Thought about a Mk1 SQ5 but the interior is soooo dated now :|

Unexpectedly I started looking at the Macan and as providence would have it my car cropped up at my local OPC. A thorough test drive and I was smitten! Been a Porsche owner for three months now and I love it. Have to compliment my OPC in Belfast on a brilliant job in checking/prepping/presenting the car - absolutely faultless. And the whole buying experience was the best in 30+ years. It's fair to say that so far this is the best car I've ever owned :D

Sorry to hear that your OPC wasn't up to snuff and that they let the car out of the showroom without having properly inspected it. Hopefully it will come back in A1 condition and give you many years of joy :)

Having my Macan back with new pan roof seals and transfer box is fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed the 100 mile drive I took it on yesterday. When I started this thread I also mentioned an under floor rattle when the engine starts/stops and occasionally when driving over rougher roads, similar to that heard in the youtube video links below posted by someone else. I've driven a loan 2.0L Macan which exhibited a similar rattle, does anybody else have a noise like this on their Macan. Experiencing it on 2 Macans and hearing it on Youtube makes me wonder if it's an odd quirk of the Macan. It doesn't sound like the noise you get from a loose exhaust.

I had similar noises. It was the bonnet hinges that needed adjusting. As your car has just been in for warranty work I guess the bonnet has been opened and closed a few times.
