I did an FPS payment a few days before collection. There have been similar threads in the past I think. I knew the car was at the dealership and I think it did make it go more smoothly on the day. I would be happy to do that again if buying another Porsche in the future - and I am usually pretty careful

No charge if you transfer the money yourself via online banking. :)

My account lets me do £9,999 per transaction. I did four such transactions consecutively with no issue. :)

That's not too surprising but you may well find that there is an overall eg £50K per day limit. But as I say it's not necessarily easy to get this information out of the bank, though I'm sure that the limit varies eg between banks.

£50K might sound like a lot, but a well-specc'd Macan (or something higher up the Porsche range) could well require a larger final payment if it's a cash purchase.

Paid the deposit by card 7 months previously on ordering at dealership.

I bank transferred the £52+k from home and they delivered my new Macan to me 2 hours later. I live 38 miles from the OPC.

That way I was able to spend plenty of time examining the condition of the car inside and out on arrival. Also checking all the extras were there as specified.

Then getting a full explanation / clarifaction on all the controls, PCM etc. from the salesman at my place rather than theirs.

Paid £5k, the maximum the OPC would allow using a 'cash back' credit card (£1k deposit and a further £4k on the day of collection) then paid the balance using a debit card, also on day of collection. This removes the small risk of your bank transfer going astray, they initially asked me to do a bank transfer 'before' collection day but I said would prefer to use my debit card, they did not argue this as a successful debit card payment is 'cleared funds' albeit it takes a day or two before it is actually debited from your bank account. For addl security I called my bank before I left home and they opened a small time window when I could use my debit card, all worked aok. Hope that helps...………. Robbie
