Hi guys - I should be taking delivery of my first Porsche (Macan S) in about 10 days or so. My centre has requested that I make payment (about 40k) to them by bank transfer before delivery which, to me, seems odd and leaves me potentially out of pocket should centre go bust! I've normally paid by debit card on the day. Is this just Porsches way of doing things?
Thanks.

Thanks for replies guys - I'll get back to my centre and insist on debit card. Did seem odd!

....once you’ve inspected the car.

You may need to then wait while they tax it via AFRL but hey! Drink some coffee and eat some biscuits😂😀

If a first time purchaser with your OPC, following your £3k deposit it is possible that they would ask you for 10% at point of order lockdown. If now only 10 days before delivery they clearly didn’t request the balance to bring to 10% at the time. Certainly not at all normal practice to be asking for £40k? Unless maybe you ordered mamba green 😳 Just say to your SE “tell the finance dept nice try but no chance until I see the car I am buying”

Tramcar,
Have a similar issue where they said balance for the car needs paying before collection in 4 days after which I have got an additional 1 1/2 weeks delay ( series of stupid reasons for the delay)
Requesting for monies to be returned seems now to have prompted an urgent fastrack collection?😂. By curiosity, is it west london porsche that requested the early payment?
