Hi all!
A big day today, as entered the world of Porsche ownership for the first time.
Picked up a 2016 SD, 48k miles, for £29k, with the following extras (I'm sure I've missed some)
Spyder wheels
Pan roof
18 way seats
PASM
PCM
PDLS
Privacy
Black pack
Red belts and dials
Heated wheel (a nice surprise)
Coming from Merc, Audi and BM previously, first impressions are that it feels like it's hewn from granite, it drives spectacularly well, and with PASM on sport plus it's like an overgrown hot hatch!!
Love it, will be adding 25k miles per annum on it, and looking forward to all of them!
Cheers
Paul
Newbie Alert!!!
Welcome to the forum and congratulations!
Macans are fantastic long distance covering machines, the miles will fly by!
That is a bargain for such an accomplished car, by the way.

Welcome, Paul and congrats on the Macan!
Looks like it has some great options and getting a great Porsche for £29k sounds like something of a bargain!
Did you buy from a Porsche Centre?

Hi Paul,
No harm in shopping around for a warranty. The biggie with Macans seems to be if the transfer box needs replacing. If you have full service records for your Macan, it's worth checking though to see if the transfer box has been replaced. (Although I think I've heard of more than one box going on some cars?)
Depending on the cost of warranties, you can then decide, depending on your 'attitude to risk' as to whether you're happier forking out for a warranty, or saving more cash & taking a chance... Personally, I prefer to 'self-insure.'
Cheers,

As WingCo says, depends on your attitude to risk. My Macan, that I bought approved used and had for two years was absolutely faultless.
On the other hand, I recently got from an OPC an approved used 911 at over 3 years old and that developed a fault straight away, so I was very glad it came with the two years approved warranty by Porsche.
For comparison purposes, the Macan approved warranty by Porsche is about £800 for one year, to include Porsche breakdown assistance is additional £175, plus they will charge you for a 111-point check to see if the car qualifies, that’s another £252.

That’s a good price for a Macan SD with that spec.
I bought my 2017 SD in June for £38k! Obviously it’s newer, has warranty till May 2020 and had 25k miles on it, but you paid £9k less. So a very good deal I think
You also have a better spec too!
I’ve just fit the TDI tuning box to mine and it it seriously good, so if you want any tips on it let me know.
I also didn’t have a reverse camera and have that booked to be retrofitted 26th September. I’ll let you know how that goes too, if you’re interested.
