Some magnificent suggested solutions - thanks everyone you've helped save a marriage!
The wife and I have agreed a compromise - I'll no longer get the dream Harley Davidson I was planning on getting early next year (much louder than the car) and instead get something quieter on two wheels.
The loud-ish start up sound only lasts about 20-25 seconds then dials right down. I assume I didn't hear it at the dealer as a 911 started up right next to me at the time...even then wouldn't have many any difference to the purchase decision anyway!

Collected 2017 Macan GTS last Friday - lovely car quite different to previous standard Macan - however I have a problem....
The startup in the GTS is a lot louder than the Macan, so much so that it woke my wife up and she is now threatening that it's either the car goes or she does as she won't put up with the noise waking her up every morning.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so how did you resolve it??
Needless to say the car isn't going anywhere!!
I've only viewed a Turbo and on start up it sounded amazing. I actually forgot why I was there after the owner started it u. I could have bought the car just on the start up noise alone. They sound awesome
On the 2 wheels option I quite like the look of the new Ducati V4 Street fighter.
