So I've finally got round to posting an introduction to the forum and a couple of photo of my new(ish) Macan...which I collected at the end of Sept from Porsche Wilmslow, who were great to deal with.

The car was really meant for the mrs but fortunately I've managed to get it as my daily, giving the rs4 a bit of a well earned rest.

The car is a late '18 (Nov) Macan 2.0 with:

Agate Grey
20" sportdesign alloys with colour porsche crest
PASM
Bi-Xenon PDLS
18 way comfort memory seats in full leather
Heated seats
Park assist front & rear with camera
Matt Ali exterior pack and roof rails
Silver sports tailpipes
Privacy glass

Enjoying the car alot...What a fantastic all rounder it is.

Congrats...looks nice and well in time for the cold weather.

On a side note whose flavour of the RS4 do you have?

Looks very smart. Congrats! :)

Am guessing that the 2.0 Macan is a significantly different driving experience compared to the RS4. ;)

Thanks. Just wondering whether its worth getting a set of all weather tyres for the winter.

When you say flavour...do you mean which generation of rs4? I have a b5 rs4 in avus. Runs about 500bhp which is fun and can be slightly scary even after nearly 8 years of ownership

Classic RS4 - they are special cars. A friend of mine had one with similar sort of power and yes can be very scary indeed.

I'm new to the forum and yet to get my desired spec Macan so cant really comment on a winter set of tyres for the Macan but in all previous cars I've had Audi R8, E92 M3, Porsche Cayman S 987 have all had winter wheels/tyres.

Good luck with yours.

Am guessing that the 2.0 Macan is a significantly different driving experience compared to the RS4. ;)
Thanks. I've had my eye on a macan for a while and always loved the look of the ones with black trim and black wheels (preferably a gts on lower springs) but then loved the look of this straight away...total opposite with Ali trim and silver wheels!

Do you know if you get the lower springs from the gts for a 2.0 as I'd like it to ride a bit lower.

The rs4...yes a totally different experience! It's a manual V6 twin turbo, 500ish bhp, so a hugely different drivetrain. The thing just pulls and pulls. Also likes to rev to 7k which I love. (The macan seems to like to rev to the redline as well :D ) It handles well on special quattro GMBH suspension which was an option. Lower eibach springs and sach dampers give it pretty good body control although it does tend to bounce a little too much when pushing on on a not so smooth b road. Found this out not long after getting the car and going on a fantastic road trip around Scotland. Damper technology has moved on massively since 2000.

Inside its a nice place to be and great build quality.

I guess you can tell I like the rs4!

The lotus is even more different ;)

^^^ Your RS4 sounds awesome. Glad you’ve kept it. In fact, that’s quite a trio you have! :)

I don’t think Porsche will fit shorter springs to your 2.0 Macan. But you could certainly get shorter/stiffer springs fitted elsewhere. This may affect warranty and/or insurance etc.

I myself have had some modifications done, including the fitting of shorter springs.

Was it the NC500 that you drove in Scotland?

Coincidentally, for nearly a year now I've been seriously considering selling both the rs4 and the lotus to get a manual racing yellow Carrera T! Unfortunately I've just not been able to find one for sale with rear seats...a must have to get the kids in the back, and with the T interior pack in yellow. There must be one out there....but I'm glad I've still got them and the Macan now in the stable as well.

I think I'll have a chat with my OPC about the springs. I guess even if they can do it the cost will be extortionate.

I've done a few trips around Scotland now but the one I was referring to was on quite a few of the nc500 roads, before it became so well known. I started in Edinburgh, after dropping the mrs off at her sisters, then headed north along the east side to braemar, Aviemore, Inverness then cut across to ullapool, down the west coast to fort William, glen Coe etc and back across to Edinburgh. I spread it over 3 days so I could enjoy it and explore a few places. Everything about it was epic, and I don't use that word lightly!

^^^ I think that a Carrera T in Racing Yellow, with a manual transmission, rear seats and the Carrera T Interior Package is a rare beast. (None currently for sale that I can see from a quick Autotrader search - 16 Ts currently for sale in the U.K., including one in Miami Blue with a Litchfield ECU remap.) I have one, but it’s not for sale. :)

I have tried to find out how many Ts were built. My guesstimate is that about 2,000 were delivered worldwide, with around half of those going to North America.

My money says that Porsche won’t fit the shorter springs to the 2.0 Macan, as they weren’t an option on the car, and because they’ll talk about the potential effect on the warranty etc.

If you’re keen, the best bet is to talk to a modification specialist, like Litchfield Motors.

A driving trip around Scotland is definitely on the bucket list! :)
