The Macan may start for barely half the price of the most-affordable 911 Carrera. But a steep stepladder of models and options reveals Porsche’s unmatched skill at plumping its corporate coffers. With roughly $24,000 worth of options aboard, including a slick, adaptive air suspension for $2,750, my Macan S nosed over $82,000. Choose the new-for-2020 Macan Turbo, with a ripping 434 horsepower and a 3.8-second cannon shot to 60 mph, and you’re looking at an SUV that starts at $85,000 and can top $100,000 with extra goodies.

This way you have a choice of options to tailor the Macan to YOUR wants. Much better than the pre-packaged options of most makes.

So you can spend a fortune on your new Macan or pare it back to your essentials.

You soon forget the cost anyway when you get on the road and can enjoy it so much.

At the end the residual value will be better than most other cars too. Depreciation is the big cost.....in my experience a long list of extras does not command a premium over a shorter list.

Amen to that. My car has £17k worth (should say cost?) of extras, pushing it to £65k. Currently worth no more than £37k as a trade-in, the depreciation curve is rather steep, being at 57% in just 2 years!

My OPC has offered 60.4% of my SD's original price after 2yrs and 8 months. Plus £1k goodwill as a returning customer for a new GTS.

That p/ex is likely to change by the time the new one's delivered in 3 to 5 months time of course.

👍👍

Good result (and confirmation that “dirty diesels” are still in demand....😉)
