Good memory Denis - but it was all downhill behind the ski coaches, and only about 20 miles or so....

The sports exhaust is brilliant and really makes the car sound throaty. I could do without the sports Chrono, but it does make the dash look better with the extra button and the clock.
June 2017 Macan GTS in Carmine red with 21” gloss black sport classics, GTS leather package, Air, PASM, PDLS+, pano roof, Sports Chrono, 18 way seats, BOSE, surround view, heated seats front and rear, carbon side blades and carbon interior package.
I really wish Porsche did options in ‘packs’ so there wasn’t such a huge combination to have! I have to say, I’m impressed with the sound of the diesel 3.0, and it sounds like the sports exhaust opens it up even more.
2016 SD, Volcano grey, 21 Turbos, PASM, SportDesign, Privacy glass, LDW and LCA, Heated sports seats with crest and memory, Heated steering wheel (the best), Bi-Xenons with PDLS, Pano roof, PCM, Connect Plus, Park assist with reverse camera
I'm glad Porsche don't do packs because you end up BUYING lots of things you don't want just to get one thing you do.
Been looking at an A35 for my wife and there are three option packs plus two others , don't wan't a sunroof, but wanted Red / Black Leather etc.
Want tinted windows sir and black alloys you'll need the Night Pack which adds other things that I don't want.
Another example
We wanted the 10.25 instrument cluster but have to also have :
64-colour ambient lighting
225 W mid-range sound system
Illuminated door sills
KEYLESS-ENTRY (lock/unlock)
Rear armrest
Porsche Options please stay as you are.

With my C63 it was quite simply a case of ‘premium pack, yes or no’ and that was that! Much simpler.spook wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 11:23 pm

The introduction of packs was one of the contributing factors in my move from BMW to Porsche. packs mean I would end up with a very expensive car to get all the items I want with several compulsory items I personally treat as negative, eg panorama roof, entry and drive and possible 21 rather than 20 wheels in Porsche terms if pack structure like BMW.
2019 Macan S Porsche code PKW8WKI8
Aren't most manufacturers going down the pack route, especially over the past few months? I see two reasons cited:
Stricter emissions rules seem to have come into effect recently. 'Stricter' in the sense that the car makers have less latitude to offer options that might affect emissions (eg extra weight, rolling resistance etc) without specifically testing the emissions on that variant. So options are grouped within packs or trim levels to lessen the amount of testing needed.
Second, all makers are under serious cost pressure. One of the ways they can reduce production costs is by offering fewer custom or individual options, especially by dropping the lower-demand options as separate items.
It would be quite a surprise if Porsche manage to avoid these pressures completely. And while I can see the downside of packs in reducing choice, they also have a potential upside in helping resale values, at least a little, especially if the packs are marketed in discrete trim levels - the higher trim levels will always be worth a bit more than the base models.

Yes simpler and more expensive because there are IMO options that you do not want.
I.e Mercedes in my case with the A35 Premium Line I did not want keyless entry and and an upgraded sound system.
and with the A35 Premium PLUS line equipment: I would have liked the Multibeam LEDS but not:
Electrically-adjustable front memory seats
Panoramic glass sunroof
Each to their own but I'm happier the way Porsche do it.
Anyway the AMG A35 the is off our list of purchase due to too many repeatable breakdown problems it seems to have.
