Hey Everyone!

We are the proud owners of a Macan S (diesel) and for the last 10 months or so have been developing products for the Porsche Macan (as well as others). We are based in Poland having moved from Spain to set the business up and have had our Macan for around 14 months now. Although we are based in Poland, I am from Bournemouth!

Although this car is nearly perfect (IMHO) it lacked a few features that its competitors had and since Porsche did not rectify them on the 2019 version either, we have developed a solution ourselves, the Macan Convenience Module. All of our products are made in the USA/EU, come with a 2 year warranty, are E-marked and are fully plug and play.

The Macan Convenience module adds the following features:

1) One touch closing of the trunk using the key fob.
Simply hold the trunk button on the key fob for more than ¾ of a second and the trunk will automatically close. We chose that time as its an intentional hold, so you don’t accidentally start closing the trunk when you wish it to open further by repeatedly pressing the trunk button (factory feature)

2) One touch closing of the trunk from the driver’s door button, without the ignition being on.
Simply press the trunk button on the driver’s door (when the trunk is open) and the trunk will close automatically, you do not need to hold it nor have the ignition on.

3) Closing of the trunk whilst moving.
Once the closing procedure has been initiated in the previous feature, you can drive off, the trunk will continue to close automatically. You must be stationary to begin closing but there is no speed limit once it has begun. Perfect for busy traffic at school pick ups or needing to get going asap.

4) Full closure of windows, trunk, sunroof and sunblind.
Holding the lock button on the key fob for ¾ of a second triggers full closure mode, this will automatically close anything on the vehicle that is open (apart from the glovebox!), lock the doors, fold in the mirrors and set the alarm.

5) Summer mode
Holding the unlock button on the key fob for ¾ of a second triggers summer mode, this will automatically open all the windows, fold out the mirrors, vent the sunroof and move the sunblind back enough to let hot air out of the vehicle. It will unlock the vehicle and disarm the alarm.

6) Mirror fold on lock/unlock
When the vehicle is locked or unlocked via the key fob, the mirrors will respond accordingly by folding in on lock and out on unlock.

7) Mirror puddle light delay on fold out.
When the previous feature is activated at night and the vehicle is unlocked, the mirrors will fold out and once fully extended will activate the downward facing puddle lights (if fitted).

8) Entry and Drive full closure.
By holding your finger on the drivers door handle for a second or more, the auto full closure mode will activate (excluding trunk), if you have the entry and drive option on your vehicle.

9) Auto Volume down on ignition
Last but not least, the module will automatically turn the audio unit down upon ignition. So, although we cannot stop it reverting to the radio function, we can stop it blaring out!

You can see the features in action here:
And you can read more and purchase here: https://nichetechnology.com/en/shop-now/convenience-modules

We offer free shipping via fedex/dhl to the USA, Canada and most of the EU (including the UK!)

The module is a full CANBUS (data) controller and uses the cars own data and power to perform its wizardry, not unreliable voltage hacks like the Chinese version. (we bought it for ourselves before development and it doesn't even work). It therefore retains all the Porsche safety features (anti pinch, alarm etc) and has no unexpected consequences. We are the developers of this product and it is not (currently) available anywhere else yet, although we are in talks with Porsche specialists shops.

I am going to try (again) to contact the mods of this site to see how we can go about sponsoring this owners club site as we have a range of Macan specific products in development, including a driver settings memory module, so the centre console buttons stay as you left them after an ignition cycle and expanding our new ECU flash tuner to include the Macan petrol versions.

Not a product but we are also working through the quirks of the Macan (as its our daily driver), such as the overly enthusiastic front parking sensors and trying to find a fix. I think i know why they behave so oddly (mine were beeping madly at some traffic lights the other night with no one in front of me!) but i need to find a few hours to pull the front bumper off again. Very soon we will be fitting dynamic (audi) style indicator function on the front (we have already done the rears) so its an excuse to do some wiring tracing at the same time!

Thanks guys!

We look forward to hearing from you!

Richard.

Thanks Richard. I see you accept GBP too.

Can these functions/enhancements be switched on and off individually or are they permanent modifications once the module is installed?

Hey Clive.

The mirrors in and out on lock/unlock, the entry and drive full closure and the radio mute can be switched on or off individually as well as the unit turned off completely via the supplied USB cable. We pre-configure the device before sending it out based on the options mentioned and your requirements, so you can just plug it in and get on with your day.

The other functions it performs require a commitment, such as holding a button down longer than just a passing press, so they can be utilised or not without affecting the user accidentally. There is no data written to anything within the car and as its plug and play does not affect the warranty. The module is completely reversible with regards to installation, as the wiring harness is also bespoke for our module.
You can ping me an email at: info@nichetechnology.com, if you wish.

Thanks!

Richard.

This actually looks a good piece of kit, the mirrors not always finding in grinds my gears.

Can you point me to where this connects / disconnects (sorry couldn’t find it on site)

Hey Adam.

The panel on the inside of the boot lid itself. So where the button is to close it, that part drops down and the module is on the opposite side (left of the boot catch as you look at it) . Its 2 x t20's screws in each handle area (by the button) and 2 behind the warning triangle cover, then you just pull the lining down. It's on typically robust Porsche clips so you can just pull it down on the left side rather than drop the whole thing down completely. Unplug the 26 pin connector and the 2 pin power connector, connect them to our harness, then connect our harness to the vehicle module. Job done. The connectors are oem fit so it's not possible to connect it incorrectly. It also comes with an adhesive velcro panel on the back so you can fix it nearby but it will sit quite happily on the insulation around the area anyway. It's very low voltage so doesn't get hot.

A picture would have explained that much better but I'm in bed now! I can send you some more information tomorrow if you contact me through the website. The module comes with full installation instructions but I will probably make a video this week too, I try to avoid making videos like the plague!

Thanks!

Richard.

Thanks Richard

Sent you pm, I get the unit is easy to add and remove but is it detectable during a routine service? i.e. unless an OPC was checking electrics would I need to remove to avoid a ticking off?

No, no need to remove, you can turn it off via the included usb cable and a laptop if you wish but you dont need to. There is no data in the module that the car doesn't already have. We reverse engineered the data for each function and our module replicates it but with enhanced functionality. It's full canbus (data) so its not tricking the car with voltage pretending to be a switch being pressed like the cheap Chinese offerings. I would only recommend bothering to turn the unit off if you ever had an issue with that network within the car and only to aid diagnostic by elimination. The porsche module in there is tried and tested too, its been in the cayenne for years, we got a 'hand me down' in our macans ;)

Because of this part number being the same we are assuming our unit will work in cayennes too but as we haven't tested that, it's not listed on the website as such.
