Great thanks Guy, do you find it works ok for your needs in terms of speed / responsiveness?
The functionality is fine - it works as designed but is certainly dated and a little 'clunky' in use.
On an early Macan, you do need to check exactly what was specified as an option - it is not as simple as saying just 'PCM3.1'. On mine, the PCM itself (including navigation) was an option (at £2007), and I also paid an extra £272 for the basic 'mobile phone preparation'. Hence the same as the one that you linked in your first post.
The satnav is very dated - my database was about a year out of date from the point of purchase and I have never updated it - too pricey. I tend to use Waze now on a standalone phone. However, the rest of the PCM system I am happy with and PCM3.1 has the advantage of a 40GB hard drive (juke box) on which you can store music. On later systems the hard-drive was smaller (10GB?). It won't play FLAC whereas PCM does, but I find the sound quality fine with 320kbps mp3 files (I have Bose). Of course there is also a CD player - I have recently discovered that this plays Dolby 5.1 surround with very impressive results.
The main upgrade that I would like is CarPlay - I could retrofit this with an aftermarket kit but wouldn't want to rip the PCM apart whilst under warranty!
I am sure that others on the forum have experienced both PCM3.1 and 4, so hopefully they will chip in.

Two further comments on the spec of the one that you linked to:
- It doesn't have 'three zone climate control' - thus the rear passengers cannot control their own fan/temperature and you lose the vents between the rear seats. This was a popular option (at £251) at that time, but became standard in 2016.
- It only has halogen lights, whereas the Bi-Xenon PDLS was a very popular 'night and day' option back then (at £1347).
Both the above are 'essential' in my book, but if you don't often carry passengers and/or don't drive much at night you may not be too bothered.
I do have the 2015 brochure and price lists if you have further spec queries.

Great thanks for the information Guy.
Actually at this point in time it will only be me in it and probably very little night driving.
The more that I think about it the more I think that I need to look for a slightly newer /better spec'd car.
I am moving down to Cornwall and have saved £13K on stamp duty so I guess that I could use some man maths to make it work.
Not any many Macan's around for sale as I would have thought - I am in my BMW mindset where there are literally hundreds for sale all the time!!
I appreciate that it is a different level of car!
Thanks again for all of your insight - it is much appreciated!

I just moved from BMW and am not regeting it just yet. The car feels more special and the handling is definatly a step up. Ride quality even on 21" wheels is a revalation. Residuals are much better thwn BMW but service costs are higher unless you intend to go down the independant route.
You can upgrade the basic halogen low beam to LED (not Porsche) and it works fine, you can't do the high beam however.
You really need to go and test drive one.

I have sent an initial enquiry to Porsche Leicester about the car and they have sent through a detailed spec. sheet and will follow with a video they say.
They do not know if the transfer case has been replaced or not - which surprises me!?
All they said is that it has a 2 year warranty and if it failed in that time it would be replaced. I will only do about 5-6K miles a year in it I would imagine.
How much approximately is the extended warranty for a year - about 1K ish? I assume it is necessary to have one of these especially on a 5 year old car (I never bothered with my BMW's).
Thanks Again for your advise guys

I have just been told by my OPC that I can extend my warranty by a further 1 year (£800) or 2 years (£1,440). This will be my second extension, as I already extended by 2 years at the 3 year old point, when I think the prices were the same. A requirement of the extension is an 111 point check which costs a negotiable £216.andywebber wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 11:00 am How much approximately is the extended warranty for a year - about 1K ish? And if it was done by an OPC they must be able to tell if the transfer box was replaced. Mine was done at about 13k miles.

Great thanks for the information again Guy.
Re the transfer case - I think that they are just being lazy or can not be bothered to look in the maintenance book or on-line!!??
That price for a 2 year extension does not seem too bad to me!?
