Not sure that a 911 would lose 26% of its value after 16 months on only 9,500 milesMikeM wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 9:37 amThat’s a depreciation drop of app £1100 for each month of ownership, that sounds about right. Posted some time back that even a Macan will lose four figures a month at point of sale, even more if younger. The only way to lessen the curve is to hold on for a longer term but then you need to factor in further maintenance costs. Could be worse, try the same on a 911

Actually, WingCo I was told by the Porsche buyer for one of the big motor groups to expect to lose 20% in the first year on a 911 and about 10% per annum after that (reducing balance method). Of course, it may be that was his story as he was after my GTS when it is time to change and, I suspect (and hope), prices are a little firmer than thatWing Commander wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 10:35 amNot sure that a 911 would lose 26% of its value after 16 months on only 9,500 milesMikeM wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 9:37 amThat’s a depreciation drop of app £1100 for each month of ownership, that sounds about right. And it’s not a depreciation fall, it’s the difference between the original hoped for (but crazy) sale price and the actual sale price.
I think if it had been advertised at something sensible like 55k the owner would have sold quickly and got 1.5-2k more

I tend to agree. Private sales tend to be mispriced and usually based upon the purchase price of the car as opposed to the clearing market price.
I even tried to call one or two that have their cars up at unrealistic prices but with my perfect spec but in vain.. some of the cars are older and higher miles than equivalent Turbo. Doesn’t matter
As for the comment on the 911 think again. Vanilla 991s depreciate quite a bit with the odd exception. Certainly not as much as SUVs and the likes but in absolute numbers it can still be scary if you are not careful. But yes, they compare favourably to pretty much anything else out that has 4 seats and sporty ambition.
Lastly for the OP who managed to get 52.5k professional bid hat off to him. In this market I did not think that was possible. Maybe they are replenishing stock for the autumn as at the moment I don’t see anything moving. All the cars I had saved in my autotrader are still languishing there.

I bet it would from invoice price to dealer bid (ie not advertised prices)Wing Commander wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 10:35 am Not sure that a 911 would lose 26% of its value after 16 months on only 9,500 miles
