But the load spec for Macan differs by 2 between front and rear 101Y front 103Y rear for size 21 wheel.

I read somewhere the different N criteria were just the moved up through as later tyres of the same name got approval. i.e start off with N0 then N1 then N2

However when I look at Blackcirles only N0 available for front 21's but for the rears No, N1 and N2 available for the Michelins with N0 and N2 having the Macan 103y rating but N1 107Y implying to me a fit for a different Porsche model

Yes, I think this is part of the issue, if you have N1’s then you should have them all round due to their higher load rating. As said, the rears I have are 107Y and the fronts (N0) 101Y, so the weight balance is wrong?

Either way I want to change them, so if anyone wants the rear N1’s then please shout.

Looking at my 2016 Porsche N approved summer tyres listing and at 21 295/35 the N1 at 107Y seems to be a Cayenne fit. The correct fitting for the Macan at rear is 103Y

In that case I may be better off just getting shot of them on eBay.

Actually, you cannot fit N1,s all round as there appears to be no NI approved that fits the front for Macans with 21;s only N0 are available for the fronts so you have to mix N's

My worry is that the 2016 and 2017 listings of approved tyres which are the latest I have and have seen anywhere are not up to date. For instance, there's a Michelin N2 Latitude Sport 3 295/35 R 21 103Y for sale. Apart from N number, this has exactly the same size load and speed spec as the NO and there would appear to be no logical reason why it could not be put on a Macan. there are other tyres missing that have appeared on new supplied Macan's like the new Pilot Sports and the Hanooks.

I just wish Porsche would put the current list on the website rather than say please check with your OPC.

The load rating is not related to the N number.
The N number simply denotes the tyre is developed in conjunction with (and hence approved by) Porsche. The first such tyres from the manufacturer will be N0, then later if/as the design is tweaked, the new version is designated N1, then N2 etc.

There is an issue in mixing different N versions (e.g. N0 front, N1 back) in that despite the dimensions, load & speed ratings being as per spec, the actual materials/structure/tread design may be different and hence could result in different handling characteristics between the two axles.

Every time my car has been in to my OPC they always point out that I had N0 rear vs N1 front and this was "not advised". As time goes on, earlier N versions (e.g. N0) become much harder or impossible to get hold off.

All N1’s seem to have a higher load rating and therefore not ideal for the Macan.
I rang Costco earlier and they only list N0 and N2 for the Macan and they will do a pair of rear N0’s for £380 fitted. Yes that’s N0 latitude Sport 3 for £380 a pair fitted, that’s a great price. I think I’ll go with that.
