Part of the problem may lie in your £17k of options. I am afraid that £65k for a new SD was never going to go down well with residual value. Same applies to most cars in that price range. The upside is that you have a car that is specced to your desires and you will have the enjoyment over 8 to 10 years - just make sure you keep buying a warranty. Another plus is that if you do keep long term then you are not losing more money by swapping every 2 to 3 years.nsm3 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 09, 2019 10:20 am Not sure this is a good time to be offloading an SD as the 2nd hand values seem to have tanked? I monitor the prices on Pistonheads and allowing for the OPC £7k markup, it looks like my 15 month, 9.5k miler with £17k options (£65k) would be lucky to pull in £45k as a trade-in currently? I'm pretty much committed to this being an 8-10 year ownership vehicle.

Found it and gone down that path already in the last day - offer also received but very poor, was less than what Porsche offered, again does it highlight how traders value the options and if they wish to sit on a vehicle for a while if it wont sell as its poverty spec with most average Joe none the wiser.....Rab J wrote: ↑Wed Jan 09, 2019 6:04 pmYou'll get a link to the cash for cars guy from an add down the right hand side of the Used cars NI site. He's a genuine guy from east Belfast. I was going to sell my Touareg to him if I hadn't got a better offer from a trader I knew with a client waiting. Just a lucky chance but got me 1k more. The Hurst guys matched his price but not a penny more. I didn't like that so they weren't getting it. Both offers were a fair bit better than We buy any cars offer. Good to get an idea of what its wort in the trade even if you've no intention of going there.
Its looking like it will stay in the stable for a few years then - will stick on 2 more years WNTY to keep me safe, has cost me nadda thus far apart from set of tyres so likely mad to even sell, there is nothing else out there catching my eye currently anyway....

You're swimming against the tide with a diesel in the first place and added options are usually significantly discounted. No one in a built up area will look at these diesels, they don't work. So your marketplace automatically is restricted. If you look on Autotrader there is a glut of them as well. You'd be best placed to get a few offers over the coming months and weigh up keeping it and using it more. Otherwise, you'll be taking a decent hit.
What you're forgetting is that the OP is selling in NI - which is Diesel country. 95% of the cars on the road here are diesel.nsm3 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 09, 2019 10:20 am Not sure this is a good time to be offloading an SD as the 2nd hand values seem to have tanked?
